Winchester Class Light Courier
First Flight 2442
Passengers: 8 (max)
Max Accel: 8.25g
Range: 340 A.U. (max fuel)
110 A.U. (max cargo)
Cargo capacity: 6 tons
Designed as a fast courier, the Winchester was a niche market vessel that found extended life as a short-range passenger and light cargo vessel. Many are used as mail carriers to remote outposts and asteroids. Their short range and cramped quarters make them unsuitable for longer runs, and their small size precludes their use for larger cargo. They do not carry escape pods, and very few carry mules (given the small cargo area).
Smugglers, on the other hand, have found them to be exceptional - especially the Mark IVs, which have Trace Compression block engines, giving them a much higher acceleration versus ships of similar size.
