The crew of Nancy Nox will travel with Roland to relive them again; as apparition, as pre-incarnated...
.. Supernatura and Firefly just isn't enough... how about a little Quantum Leap and Sliders... yep...

Put on your ancient life skins... no, never mind, I'll do that for you. Stand by, and see where Roland's been.

Nancy Nox was nearly back in the verse proper. Two days had passed since the destruction of the Golden Stag. The Djinn Prisoner had given up the location of Bartolomeo Columbo and Pepper Anderson. The Firefly was headed to Osirus and a vast dessert on its rather hot equator. A remote castle of some sort. A fortress of evil housing those that had sought the power of the demons of old earth-that-was. Now that power had been cut off. It seemed unlikley they'd be eager to see those responsible for severing that access.

In the mind of Roland, Majordomo and Mary Galenus... A summoning to the Ownership.

"come to me."

The catwalk was extended from amid the cargo deck to the aft wall. The secret door to Ownership was opened.

The door at the end of the extended catwalk did not open until Roland, Mary and Majordomo had gathered. Then it clanked and they made their way through the air lock entry.

Adriana did not get an invitation, at least not directly. As to how the wandering dead move and pass through any object, they cannot say. Perhaps it is a matterof will more than thinking, doesn't thinking require a corporeal brain? At any rate most ghostly apparitions tend to forget trying to figure out the how and just do it. The section of the ship that 'ownership' dwelced behind, that had alway been inpenetrable. Slipping in with the other three, through the airl lock, it seemed irresistable. She had done it before realizing that there was no going back.

The humans shut the door behind them and then proceeded into the small chamber.

Belinda Batterly floated in the light blue liquid of the spherical tank before them. "Please take a seat, I have much to show you."

The had to squeeze by to get to the small benches along the walls on the port and starboard. There was only one actual chair at the aft, it face a set of inactive controls, buttons, switches and dials. All seemed inert.

The live Adriana Lucy would probably have felt guilty about snooping around, slipping into places she hadn't been invited and listening to conversations that were not supposed to involve her. She had never been a sneaky person by nature. But then, she wasn't really a person anymore. As a ghost, she had gotten used to just popping up places unseen. It was one of the perks.

And so, when Mary (who Adriana had decided to keep an eye on since her 'encounter' with Luke in the Ghost Ship), Majordomo (who she didn't really know very well yet) and Roland (who she didn't like but still totally thought was hot) were gathered in the cargo deck, she was too curious to just float on by. And when a door seemed to appear out of nowhere and the three wandered through it, Adriana Lucy was too intrigued not to slip in with them. She really didn't mean to be sneaky.

Remaining veiled and invisible as only ghosts could, Adriana kept herself back and out of the way. It was way beyond weird, and she realised too late that there would be no slipping back out again. Best to just keep behind the veil and see what was about to be shown. It couldn't hurt, could it?

Just having left Luke's bunk from a rather disappointing confrontation, Mary was searching for Roland. Searching for him to help relieve her of the feelings that swirled around inside her. Instead of finding him, someone else found her.

"Come to me."

She came to a grinding halt.

"That was in my head..." she whispered.

Then she knew, she was being summoned to see Ownership. It was not where she wanted to be. What if Ownership knew what was happening to her? What if Ownership wanted her to leave? That couldn't be it. She wasn't evil per se. She just had needs.

Unconsciously, she winded through the ship until she met with Majordomo and Roland at the access point to Ownership's domain.

Roland.

He looked just about good enough to eat. Having to spend time with him before getting any kind of release was going to be downright unbearable, but she was called and she must go.

Maybe she could just stand by him.

Very close.

As they walked across the gateway to the meeting place, she slipped her arm through Roland's and smiled at him.

"Can I talk to you later?" she asked as they walked. "We can meet in your bunk or mine. Like right after this?"

So wrapped up in controlling her own emotions, she didn't even feel Adriana follow them in.

It was difficult to remember, the falling asleep. Major Domo helped them to the soft blankets laid out around the liquid chamber of Ownership, while she spoke to them. Adriana too felt herself slipping into slumber, finding a place to sleep; something she had not done... since dying.

"While the gate is closed, a darkness remains. You Roland and you Mary are the key to overcoming this. You know this foul thing as the Overseer Roland. A demon of the highest level, a pagan god, an opportunist. While it thinks it has guided your hand to the shutting of the gate, other forces have been at work. Your previous lives hold secrets, and beside them, ancestors of you Mary. You must go back now, find the artifacts; precious tools of power. Find what became of them and track them through the ages so that we may recover them here, in the present."

"Go no, Majordomo and I will look after your corporal selves, nothing can harm you here. But find the relics and learn where they are now."

< exit Mary, Roland and Adriana to King Solomon's Treasure here
... it doesn't appear that ownserhip or majordom were aware that Adriana was there, or part of the time spell h....mmmm >

Majordomo returned to the others.
"Janet, set us on a course to Beylix."
The Djinn had died, but under a Meg Master's induced spell it had revealed the location of the imprisoned Bartolomeo and Pepper.

Majordomo explained, somewhat about Roland and Mary. "They've gone on a bit of an ethereal quest. Out of body sort of thing. Ownership is watching over them. I don't understand it entirely, what else is new. But we've plenty to do...."

"We'll need a Captain in place of Roland." Majordomo looked between those gathered: Jannike, Luke, Meg Masters, Janet, Curly.

Luke

In the days that had passed since blowing up the Golden Stag, Luke had kept himself mostly confined to the engine room. It was relaxing to focus on the job of being a mechanic again. The engine was something he could fix. Plus it was a good excuse to keep to himself and avoid the others. He had barely seen his sister either. A part of him had found it strange that she wasn't around pestering him, but the bigger part hadn't wanted to see her anyway.

When the Djinn had died, Luke wondered if he was to blame. It wasn't that he felt guilty - the Djinn was a demon, after all - but the power he had felt over it troubled Luke still. Though he hadn't been ready to listen at the time, Mary's reminder that it was how he used his power, and not the power itself, that defined him had not fallen on deaf ears. And Luke wanted to control his power, so that he could use it for good. Controlling the Djinn as he had done had been a big step towards that goal, and Luke wanted to continue. He wanted Mary to calm him, so that he could tap into his power like that again.

Luke had recently emerged from the engine room to find the rest of the crew when Majordomo gave Janet the go-ahead to Beylix. They were going after Pepper and the man called Bartolomeo. "About time," Luke thought aloud, quickly glancing away as he realised he had spoken out of turn.

At mention of needing a new Captain, Luke looked without really thinking towards Curly. He didn't say anything but she seemed like the logical choice to him. If she looked back at him, he'd raise his eyebrows, to encourage her to step forward for the role.

Jannike had spent a lot of time meditating. She'd tried cooking, but the simple act of dicing celery had gotten her staring at her familiar 10 inch carbon steel general purpose chef's knife as if she'd never seen it before... thinking about sushi.

Perhaps she'd stick with baking for a while.

She sat gathered with the others, in a nondescript green T-shirt and a pair of khaki cargo pants. She stared off at the bulkhead, somewhere past Majordomo's left shoulder, and initially gave no indication that she'd even noticed he was in the room.

"Not It," she said abruptly. And that was all.

Curly watched Janike with interest, a questioning look when she said 'not it.'
It wasn't the first out of context thing she had uttered since she'd come on board. Curly didn't get if she was refering to not being Captain.
At the moment Curly was more concerned that the behavior of the ninja had changed. All of them had. Luke too.

She pondered if she had; then met Luke's eyes and realized what Janike had meant.. or at least what it seemed to have meant. Before she could open her mouth and reply to Luke's look - - -

Janet had 'got it'; or took it that way. "Yeah, me too. I'm with Cookie that is, not it."
"Right."
Janet winked at Janike and quickly looked to Luke, "So, who's for the kitty being Captain raise your hand."
She scowled at Majordomo who then raised his hand. Janet's was up.

Luke grinned wide, and raised his hand too. He saw Curly scowl at Majordomo, but took it as all in fun. It just seemed to make sense for Curly to act as captain. Both Janet and Majordomo seemed competent, but Curly had Luke's trust. And, though he had been angry at her for it at the time, she had saved his life at Bor.

He turned to see if Jannike raised her hand as well. She was an odd one, and Luke didn't really know what to make of her. Jannike had demonstrated her formidable skills at Bor but it was more her manner aboard the ship that intimidated Luke.

"I think that's a majority," Luke observed happily, turning back to see Curly's reaction.

It was not until Luke spoke up that Jannike seemed to realize that Curly was looking at her, or that she had been expected to register a clarification of her vote beyond "Not It." She glanced around at the others and shrugs, satisfied enough with the choice.

"So. Captain," she said, turning her attention to Curly. "I assume we're going to get these people?" She looks back at Majordomo. "Do we have more information than the name Beylix? Planets are largish sorts of places."

Luke kind of stared at Jannike for a few seconds. He just couldn't figure her out. How could such a talented ninja hunter have such an apparently short attention span? She didn't even seem to understand what they were voting for. Nonetheless, he, Majordomo and Janet had made up the majority and so Curly was now Captain.

Luke shook his head free from trying to make sense of Jannike. He could accept her oddities as long as she continued to be the formidable fighter he had seen at Bor. As conversation turned towards rescuing Pepper and Barto, Luke relaxed a little. He rested a foot up on a nearby chair and leaned back. Planning a job - a mission - took his mind off the darker thoughts that had been circling in his mind. Not that he had much to do with the planning. He never had a mind for that. He'd just go where he was told to and hopefully get to kick some ass.

Curly's tail thumped the floor and sort of snapped in the air like a whip, a general indication of irritation. But it settle back down and curled up around her. (Curly is in Cat/therianthrope/humany mode almost all the time.. it being her natureral.. er .. normal... right, the way she is - state).

"Yes, we're going after them. They are crew of Nancy Nox and imprisoner, according to ... the Genie. They're.. " Curly looked at Meg Master.

Meg laid down a data sheet, touched a courner. A three dimensional castle appeared above the table.

"Or at least this is what we think it looks like. It's in a rather flexible dimension."

Meg looked around.

"Not to worry, Miss Masters has secured an invitation." said Majordomo. "To a party. No need to dress up this time, it's actually we who are invited."

"And how do you get this kind of information? You said something about being a member of Zuang Li." asked Curly.
"Yes. I have extensive files." Meg stood straight, expected some pushback about the announcement of being part of Zuang Li. "And connections. But this is where the Djinn indicated. And then we received invitation to the Third Millenial Hunter's Party."

"That's sorta sounds like a trap." said Curly. She looked at Jannike, "you figure you can climb those walls?"

"Sorta?" said Meg sarcastically.
