10/27/10 "I feel like .. putting a slug in your gut and ... watching you bleed out...." "But I'd settle for a scotch and soda." "Well unfortunately for you, I'm a serial killer and not a bartender." replied the Butcher. "However the only comfort I can give you, is a quick and painless death to end your suffering." The Butcher hobbled his way slowly over to where Rex had left his gun. He placed his knife down and picked the handgun up. He checked the magazine and the safety, flicking it off and making sure a round was in the chamber. The masked and gloved killer then made his way back over to the bleeding man slumped against the wall near Lily's bed. His breathing was a little labored from the loss of blood, but he was better off than the man laying in front of him. "I take it this was the gun you were going to use on me?" asked the Butcher, a small chuckle escaping his mouth. "Kind of ironic that instead of me that's going to get shot with it, it'll be you instead. So before you lose consciousness on me, Mr. Yangtree, where would you like it? In the head or in the gut?" The Butcher used the man's handgun to emphasize his options by pointing it at Yangtree's head and then at his gut, before aiming it somewhere in the middle. His finger slowly wrapped itself around the trigger, waiting for the naked and injured man's answer.

Hutch
|
10/28/10 Hutch, Cooper, Akira and Eva came from here. The hooded figure was talking to someone lying on the floor when the door first opened, but the hinge creaked. Always did. Hutch had mentioned it to Lily several times in the past few years, but she always blew him off, saying that she liked that it was a kind of security thing. No one could come in the front door without her knowing. But it had the most undesirable effect at that moment. Before they could even get through the door, the guy heard the creak and spun counter clockwise in their direction. He was most definitely left handed, and the move was quick. As he shot, Hutch dove off to the right and rolled, taking refuge behind the cushy chair he loved so much. He cursed the layout of her place. It was spartan and therefore not easy to find cover. The bullet most definitely would've crossed Cooper's path. Quite literally, if Cooper didn't move, he would have taken it in the chest. And if he did, he hoped Cooper was wearing armor. In the meantime, the Butcher had flipped over the kitchen table and was using it for cover. "Coop?" Hutch called out while keeping his eye in the Perp's direction. "You OK over there?" Then he called out again. "Lily?" |

10/29/10 I had just slipped on the helmet when Hutch led through the door. We took fire straight away thanks to the door hinge squeeking.. reminder to self to highlight the effectiveness of smashing a door open with a battering ram as opposed to a key... With the visor pressed against my chest, just like I'd learned from the riot squad back in the Soho demonstrations I stepped forward and took one on the sternum. The bullet ricocheted and bounced off my face plate. Which cracked, so much for low bids on bulk buys of police equipment. I'd already had the shotgun up to fire away, which I did as I stepped aside to the left and leaned against the wall. I pumped five shots from the Gilgamesh Double-tech weapon into the table. My first bit of intuitive success on the whole gorram case that actually came through, the table in the apartment stopped the titanium pellets like police tape stopped an armored car. I stopped firing my nearly perfect straight line across the table, pumped another shell into the chamber. I held the barrel out to fire at anything that moved without shouting 'please don't hurt me I give up'... and the show of two empty hands. With the butt up against me to keep it steady I loaded in five fresh rounds to replace the ones I'd fired. My eyes held steady, the two lumps of flesh, one to my left and clearly Lily on the bed just at the edge of my vision. I ignored them. First things first. Hutch did roll call, I went with the academy script, "You are bound by law. Surrender now or deadly force will follow." Which I suppose is a bit of an understatement after firing at least one ten gauge shell into someone's body on the other side of the table.

10/30/10 The Butcher laid behind the overturned table in a rutt-load of pain from the shotgun pellets that had been fired at him and punctured his body. He silently cursed himself for being sloppy, but knew in the back of his mind that one day sooner or later, he was going to wind up getting caught. He just didn't figure that today was going to be that day and that he'd be huddled behind a cheap table riddled with holes and bleeding. He was still alive, but he was feeling somewhat woozy from the blood loss. Both from the failed attempt by Mr. Yangtree to sever his Achilles tendon and by the aforementioned shotgun pellets scattered throughout his body. ”You are bound by law. Surrender now or deadly force will follow." The Butcher thought about it for a bit. He really didn't want to get shot again because it hurt like Hell, but he also didn't want to surrender either and risk people finding out who he was. He was in a bit of a quandary and if he didn't give the lawman who had shot him an answer soon, he'd probably get shot again which didn't sound like such a great idea. As he laid there behind the table, he wondered if he could escape through a window. With the injuries he had sustained, he doubted he'd be able to make it even if he did manage to actually shoot and hit one of the two cops or both of them. Guns were definitely not his forte.

10/30/10 Andrew and Adria came from here. Andrew remained by the corner while Adria checked the window. "You see anything?" Then shots were fired. Andrew sprang into action- running up to the window- he tucked his gun away for a moment. "I'll give you a boost," he said quickly. Buckling his hands together he lifted her up with ease so she was able to reach the window. "Tell me it isn't locked." At this point it really wouldn't matter. The gunfire meant there was no real need to be sneaky now, but it would make it easier on them instead of having to smash through it and avoid getting cut going in. |

10/30/10 Adria had been looking for a crate or something to stand on when she heard the first shot. She opened her mouth to tell Andrew to give her a boost up, but he was already on it. "Read my mind" she said. When she was high enough, Adria noticed the window was closed...and at first glance, it looked locked. Closer inspection revealed the lock was barely in place, and a cheap flimsy one at that. It would be useless in keeping them out. She braced herself against the wall and jerked up hard on the window. If there was a sound when the lock broke, she didn't hear it. "It's not locked...anymore" she replied. As soon as the window was open enough, Adria slipped inside. She turned back and reached down to give Andrew a hand in as the second shot was fired. Once they were both inside she cautiously opened the bathroom door and peeked out as Coop was talking to someone. She saw someone hiding behind the table...right within her line of fire. She motioned for Andrew to follow her lead as she opened the door fully and stood causally a little in front and to one side of the open door. She was tempted to fire a shot right beside the man's head...purely for dramatic effect. She resisted the urge, and instead trained her gun on the man 'hiding' behind the table. "I highly suggest doing as the nice detective says" she said, her tone and expression mockingly pleasant. Adria almost hoped the man would try to make a run for it. It would give her an excuse to shoot him. He wasn't Ink, but he was nearly as bad in his own way. Her eyes dared him to make a run for it. |

10/30/10 Well the option to escape out of the window was dashed when the female cop entered Lily's flat and pointed her gun at the injured Butcher. Though it really wasn't much of an option due to the amount of blood he had lost, the injured leg, the aforementioned shotgun pellets in his body, and the wooziness he was feeling. The Butcher wondered just how many officers of the law were outside surrounding the place. He definitely didn't have enough ammo to shoot it out with them and he really wasn't in a position to start a shootout in the first place. "I highly suggest doing as the nice detective says" "Geez you think?" replied the Butcher, in an electronically distorted sarcastic tone from behind his flesh colored head covering. "It's not like I have very many options, now do I?" He uttered a frustrated and defeated growl before tossing the handgun in his possession to the ground. In his current condition, the Butcher did his best to show the woman the palms of his gloved hands before sighing and saying, "Fine. I surrender. Take me away."

Hutch

11/1/10 "Fine. I surrender. Take me away." Hutch came out from behind his cover and moved on the Butcher. He looked at Cooper. "I so wanted to do that," he said flatly, as he walked up to the man who was laying bleeding on the floor. He got a little too close to the guy and looked like he was more than ready to put a bullet in the man's brainpan, when he glanced over at Lily. His jaw set and his finger started to pull the trigger, but he stopped. "Cooper? Cuff this animal and get him on a transport to the Federal Administration section of Eavesdown Medical Center. I don't want him on the Constable. I think he would be in danger there." Then he sheathed his weapon and nearly ran to Lily's side. She was so pale. And there was so much blood. He neck looked so bruised that he almost didn't want to touch her there, but he had to. He needed to see if she was still alive. "Eva!" he yelled. "She ain't breathing! She's got a heartbeat, but she ain't breathing!" Eva was there in a flash and Hutch stumbled backwards. He couldn't watch. He just couldn't watch her die. So he looked away, saw Rex on the floor and jumped at the chance to help him. He knelt down and started to undo the ropes wrapped around the man's body and neck. Rex was bleeding profusely, but conscious. "You doing OK?" he asked him, but before Rex could answer, Hutch called out. "Someone find another doctor! We have another man down!" |

11/2/10 I rolled the skel over onto his belly and put the cuffs on him, including the thumb cuffs. I started a slow and careful search; then bound up his ankels with straps as well. While someone tended to the victims I pulled off the killer's mask and set them all aside for inventory along with everything else I'd taken from the search. A couple of marines showed up to do the dragging away. I bagged the items I'd take and looked over the first aid progress, then hurried to keep the arrestee in sight. Once he was on a transport I climbed on and reminded him he was bound by law and did he care, "Confess up time sport." I considered some lure about life sentences instead of a death penalty. But I didn't figure that's make much impression. "So I don't figure you'd care to save this old decrepted government some time and energy and speak clearly about why you might or should get multiple life imprisonments instead of a death sentance. Instead why don't you convince me of something brillliant to release to the public about how you got your peepee whacked by your drop slut of a mother and you just couldn't help yourself since all you could ever think about to get a little half arousal was some sort of long lost scent of her nasty crotch." |

11/2/10 "You doing OK?" Rex managed to get one eye open and look up toward the blur that had asked. He just let out a groan of disbelief. An eye roamed to see what was happening, their were people there, someone was tending to Lily. 'ah well,' "so much for the bodyguard career." He coughed up a little wheeze and closed his eyes. |

11/2/10 "Andrew...keep him covered" she said, indicating the man Cooper was cuffing and searching. "The perp tries anything...shoot him." Adria knew she didn't really need to say that...but it made for nice dramatic effect. Once Andrew had taken over, she headed to the closet and made sure no one was hiding in there before returning to the main room. Adria glanced at the man on the floor when Hutch called for another doctor, and walked to the door. She didn't see Akira in the flat anywhere, and hoped she hadn't changed her mind and made a run for it. "Akira! Get your pigu in here. We've got two badly injured. Eva's handling one of 'em, you need to get the other" she called out. Without waiting to see if the woman was coming or not, she turned and trotted back to the bathroom, holstering her gun on the way. She grabbed clean towels from the stack, and knelt on the other side of the man from Hutch. "Here...put this on that wound" she said, tossing a towel to Hutch and gesturing to one of the bleeding wounds she spotted immediately. She pressed another towel over the other, and looked towards the door hoping to see Akira coming towards them. |

11/2/10 When the shooting had started up, she had realized that there was no place for her to be but out. There would have been no place for her to hide and she would have surely gotten herself shot, so being the smart girl she was, she waited outside where she was out of the way. However, she recognized that her help was needed and she grabbed her bag and immediately ran inside. "I'm here!" Her feet moved quickly towards the injured male, since Eva was taking care of the female. She was careful to stay as far away from the criminal that was being cuffed, since she wasn't too sure about him to begin with. She was quick to open her bag, grabbing the necessary tools to start checking over the man's wounds. "All right, you need to stay awake for me. I want you to tell me what happened so I can be sure to get all your wounds." Her voice was soft and gentle, trying to keep him talking so he'd stay conscious. She wanted to make sure he didn't start drifting the wrong way. She would hate to see him on her table by the end of the day. Akira was sure that the others felt the same way about this, though they were assuredly closer to the man than she was. "Adria, keep pressure here while I take care of this wound." She started with the most serious of the wounds and then she would work her way down until he could be properly moved. At the moment, the big picture of keeping him alive was important. Finding herself a bit restricted, she quickly took off the body armor and went back to work. She knew that she would probably get blood everywhere, but she didn't really care. People were important, not clothes. At the moment, this man was her responsibility. |

11/2/10 With his disguise removed, the mystery behind the Butcher's identity was no longer a secret. He wondered what took them so long to it find out and wondered if they hadn't already found his collection of souvenirs yet. It was a 50/50 chance that they had already done so or were about to. He said nothing the entire time as he was on the ground getting restrained and searched and when he was being put on a transport to the Eavesdown Medical Center for treatment of his wounds. When the man who had shot, handcuffed, and searched the Butcher stepped into the transport, the wounded man looked at him with cold emotionless eyes. "Confess up time sport." "So I don't figure you'd care to save this old decrepted government some time and energy and speak clearly about why you might or should get multiple life imprisonments instead of a death sentance. Instead why don't you convince me of something brillliant to release to the public about how you got your peepee whacked by your drop slut of a mother and you just couldn't help yourself since all you could ever think about to get a little half arousal was some sort of long lost scent of her nasty crotch." "Your words and actions to elicit a heated response from me are futile, Mr. Cooper. Plus there is that thing called police brutality that the jurors will most certainly go head over heels for if you dare lay a hand on me in any way, shape, or form that is not in a professional police manner." replied Silas, giving the Collector a small smile. He straightened up, the smile gone and continued, "Further more, I know my rights and I'm not saying another word until my lawyer is present. That is all." |

11/3/10 "Your words and actions to elicit a heated response from me are futile, Mr. Cooper. Plus there is that thing called police brutality that the jurors will most certainly go head over heels for if you dare lay a hand on me in any way, shape, or form that is not in a professional police manner." replied Silas, giving me a small smile. He straightened up, the smile gone and continued, "Further more, I know my rights and I'm not saying another word until my lawyer is present. That is all." "Oh, you've got me all figured out then. What a surprise. Not really interested in a heated response, just a confession. I mean the shootout with the police at the scene of a double murder serves pretty well, and your collection of souveniers, that's pretty solid." I didn't figure to outright say we had him, or the bit about Lily and her john being dead, let him wonder a little. "Anyway, it'll take some time to log the evidence. And you're not in the system, so I'll get to that lawyer thing after we get you treated." "So just relax, I'll just work on this press release about your apprhension... let's see. Adolescent, impotent and pedophilic shoe sniffer... that's pretty good huh..." I got a buzz on my PDA. It was a wave piped forward to me from the central comm on the ship. Daiyu Roulan’s face appeared and her voice in my ear piece, ”Detective Mandrake, I have attached a data stream to this wave, which includes everything we have on the happenings in question.” Good new I guess, little late, but... but may have some use, ”Have you managed to acquire the individual in question?” I set the comm up for replay, "Lookie there, it's the Roulan Gang." I pretended to hit a button and let the replay roll. ”Detective Mandrake, I have attached a data stream to this wave, which includes everything we have on the happenings in question.” The loud speaker could be hear by Bradford now, "Thank you Lady Roulan, that will be most helpful, " ”Have you managed to acquire the individual in question?” "Why yes Lady, in fact I got him right here. We're headed over to the secure hospital ward here on Eavesdown. I expect he'll be unaccompanied for some time and would welcome any visitors." I had rewound and cut the sound so he could just see her on the screen; and turned the image to Bradford. He couldn't tell it was a recording, it looked like I was showing her his image. I turned the PDA back to me and obviously slipped the switch to my ear piece. "They were viscious Lady, just like your people." I paused. "Yes, without any cooperation we've got no use for him." I paused again, "Happy to be of assistance." I faked the click off. "Gorram it, and here I thought I'd be getting another feather in my cap, getting you all cooperative and all up at the Sanitarium. The behavioral guys would've had some fun, you too probably. Real famous case this would have been. Looks like hard time for you instead though, until the dark queen gets someone close." The vehicle stopped, I hopped up. He was locked up tight, and there were plenty of security boys around. "Be seeing you." and opened up the door to get out. |

Hutch
|
11/6/10 Hutch felt useless. He hated feeling useless. Lily didn't look good, but Eva was working on her. He had the utmost confidence in Eva's skill, but then again, he also was quite sure that the Butcher... er... Silas Bradford was good at what he did as well. "Akira! Get your pigu in here. We've got two badly injured. Eva's handling one of 'em, you need to get the other." "I'm here!" "Here...put this on that wound." Adria shoved a towel in his hands and Hutch did what was needed immediately. Hutch marveled at the woman who jumped in there like she was meant to be there. And she had body armor on... Not usually standard issue for a doctor. He was a bit confused, but he would make sure his people were well taken care of. The woman didn't take real notice of him, but it didn't mean anything to him. He wanted Rex and Lily saved. "All right, you need to stay awake for me. I want you to tell me what happened so I can be sure to get all your wounds. "Adria, keep pressure here while I take care of this wound." Hutch let this Akira woman and Adria handle the pressure as he continued to remove the last of the rope around Rex's body. He leaned down to him, not knowing whether or not Rex could hear him. "Thank you, Yangtree," he said. "Things might not have gone completely to plan, but I have no doubt that if you weren't here, I would be looking at a corpse on that bed." He looked over to see Eva working quickly on Lily and looked away. He couldn't watch. He leaned back down to Rex. "You have a job with me anytime," he assured him. "All you have to do is to say the word." Then he suddenly felt in the way. He got up and moved over by Andrew, watching Cooper toy with Silas. Silas Bradford. He never saw it coming. He had talked to Silas dozens of times the last 6 years he had been in the District. He had frequented his shop. He was always so mild mannered. Polite. He seemed like the type that wouldn't hurt a fly. I was so wrong, Hutch thought to himself. Dumb. Let my personal feelings cloud my judgement. Hutch closed his eyes and sighed softly. After a moment, he turned to Andrew. He needed something to focus on. "Who's this Akira woman?" he asked, voice low enough that only Andrew could have heard. |
