10/7/10 At first, Adria tried to ignore the alarm from her PDA. "Damn it" she muttered when Andrew stopped the very enjoyable things he was doing, and she could no longer ignore the alarm. She growled in frustration and rolled over to reach for her pants. They been removed halfway between the door and the bed, which meant they were too far away for her to reach from there, which meant she had to get up and walk over to them. She swore again as she got out of the bed. After a little digging through the pockets of her pants, she found her PDA and stopped the alarm. She sat back down on the bed and brought up the information. "Ta ma de wo liang ci xingqiri" she muttered when she looked it over. "We might actually have something" she said, tossing the PDA to Andrew so he could read the information there. "Ink and his mother were on Sihnon. I'll need to double check, but if I remember right, they'd have been there at the time of the murdered there. We'll have to go back and let the others know what's turned up." The necessity of it didn't detract from her clear reluctance to do so. Adria made a face and started pulling her clothes back on, pausing a moment to eye Andrew appreciatively where he sat naked on the edge of her bed. She quickly finished getting dressed, fighting off the urge to finish what they'd started. She waited for Andrew to get dressed again before leading the way back to the briefing room. Not being the vain sort and being in something of a hurry to get back to the briefing room, Adria hadn't thought to run a brush through her hair before leaving the room. She was unaware that her hair was subtly but noticeably mussed and tangled. When they returned to the briefing room, Adria was a little surprised to see Rachel there. She nodded politely to the girl as she forwarded the information she'd retrieved on Ink's mother and Sihnon to the rest of the crew. "Hey, Coop. Turned up something worth checking out. I'll tell you about it when you're finished there" she said. She sent messages to Hutch's and Mac's PDA's along with the information she'd turned up. After sending the message, Adria sat at a terminal and started putting in search parameters. Johna Murphy, Sihnon, Johna Murphy and Mary Ellen Murphy death certificates. She also added Newhall and Jiangyin and the timeframe of the murders there. Message to Hutch and Mac: Got something that puts Ink on Sihnon at the time the Companions were murdered. (attached file forwarded from Adria's PDA) Going to check it out more. Ink would've been about ten years old at the time. Too young to have committed the murders himself, but I'm thinking that if there was some mistreatment of his mother there that he and his father caught wind of, his father could have taken revenge for it with Ink present. Ink learns how to kill, and continues the ritual himself when he's old enough. Searching more files to see if his father was on Sihnon as well, and cross referencing with Jiangyin and Newhall as well. Also searching for more information on the deaths of his parents. 10/7/10 A woman came up to the guard at the security checkpoint and handed the guard her documentation. The guard looked it over and then looked at her. "Welcome to the Constable, Dr. Wells," he said. "Forensics? That's shiny." He turned to point down to the bay doors. "It's right down there. Captain's not on board at the moment but some of the others are," he explained. "I'll call ahead, then have your gear delivered. You can go on in. Get your bearings."
And Dr. Akira Wells walked down towards a new chapter in her life. |

10/7/10 Akira smiled in the most polite way when she handed her papers over. Of course, she had to set her personal bags down to do so. "Thank you very much. I'd like to think a doctor of many trades is always shiny." She picked up her bags once again and began to walk, her moderate heels making a light tap tap on the metal beneath her. It would be different for her to be mobile throughout the stars, but she thought she would get used to it quite quickly. Akira had always had a fondness for the stars, and she was looking forward to traveling and getting to see new places. She was also hoping that she would be getting along with her new "shipmates" soon, as well, though only time would tell on that. She didn't know who would be escorting her to her knew quarters, but she took everything in stride, making her way to where she was supposed to be. Akira hoped that someone would be escorting her about the ILEV Constable for she would surely get lost on her own. Hell, she would probably get lost even if she did have an escort for the first time around. "Hello? Anyone about? Wandering doctor waiting to start working... Hello?" |

10/18/10 I put the mouthpiece on hold and stood up at Adria returned. She looked like she'd lost three rounds with Snake the Grappler. I took Rachel by the wrist and escorted her out of the Crime Lab, "You've been told to stay out of the restricted areas." I gave her a stern look, the puppy-eyed hooker act was still pretty convincing. But wearing thin. "Go wait in the galley or something You see me butting my nose in where you work." I smirked and tilted my head, "figuratively that is." I shut the door. I hurried back in and put a call through to Hutch with the others on listen. "Captain, the murders at Madrassa were during a fashion convention etcetera. I'm pulling up the cross references on Bradfor now." I entered in the prissy's data to the search avatar. "Are you on the way there?" Adria seemed keen about something she had. I opened up the line back to the law dick on the comm, "So counselor, since your files are over and above the local law enforcement of the core, just send them on along. We about got our hooks in this guy, I'd hate for my report to emphasize your reluctance resulting in the death of more innocent people. I'll call you back if you can actually be of any more use. Or any..." |

10/8/10 Adria waited until Cooper had finished with his comm before speaking. She brought up the information she'd found from one of her earlier searches for him to see. "This puts Ink and his mother on Sihnon at the time of the murders there" she said. "Ink would have been about ten at the time, and since he's not of above-average height and build, that rules him out as the perpetrator for those. But that doesn't mean he didn't witness the murders of the Companions." Adria started pacing as she talked. "If there was some mistreatment of his mother, and if his father was there as well...and he and Ink got wind of the mistreatment...there's your motive. Ink's father might have decided to take revenge, and Ink went along for the show." She paused as another thought popped into her head, then started pacing again. "It's also possible that it was Ink's mother that killed the Companions, and he learned the MO from her rather than his father. I've got searches going to find out if Ink's father was on Sihnon as well, and searches going to cross reference their little family with Newhall and Jiangyin, as well as searches for more information on his parents' deaths." Adria kept her attention on Cooper as she talked and paced. "Mistreatment of his mother by Companions on Sihnon would provide motive for murder. Revenge, and all that. One or even both of his parents could have gone after the Companions. Ink develops a taste for murder, and copies the MO he witnessed as a child. He goes after whores as a way of getting vengeance for the way his mother was treated by Companions. To someone like Ink, there wouldn't be any difference between registered Companions and common whores." |

10/9/10 "You've been told to stay out of the restricted areas." "Go wait in the galley or something You see me butting my nose in where you work... figuratively that is." Rachel frowned as Cooper shoved her towards the galley. She really just wanted to be near him. She shrugged as she moved away, walking aimlessly about the ship. Surprisingly, she came across a woman who she hadn't met yet. She wasn't from the District, she was too classy looking for that. "You new here?" Rachel asked. "I've been around here for a bit. Just a temporary thing until I can get working again. My Collector lives here." She eyed the woman. "I'm Rachel," she offered. "Who are you?" |

10/9/10 Akira's eyebrow quirked, not expecting the person to arrive to be what she was. To be honest, she couldn't see how a person could do such a thing with their body just to get money. Even the Companions were beyond her comprehension, even if they were legal in their...conquests. It was such a shame that the woman was so young though, too... However, she would be nice and not give the woman a lecture on the many possible STD's she could gain and pass around in her profession. She stuck out her hand, respectfully with a kind smile. "Dr. Akira Wells, medical examiner, I suppose." She would probably be doing a lot of that over actual doctoring, she was sure, which would be different for her. That was all right, she was perfectly adequate at both professions, so she would have no problem doing so. She was sure it would get awfully lonely she was sure, but she wasn't about to talk about it at the moment. |

"Yeah, he's top of the list, no doubt about the capability, motive, opportunity. Or Bradford. He may have been there then too. Along with five billion other Sihnons." still, what we didn't have was any evidence. "Did you look through the notes on the boxes we found at Ink's? (Evidence Board) He had one photo of a couple of the vics that didn't match the police photos, considering he had access to the crime scenes though, it still doesn't factor as evidence. Circumstantial we got, theories too." don't discourage her, the last thing we needed to do was get hesitant. "I'd say keep following it, we got plenty to arrest him anyway." "Hutch and Mac are on the way to question the fairy dressmaker." One of the guards gave a ship's wave that the forensic doc had arrived. I hit the ship's all Comm. "Doc? er.. Doctor Wells, we're in the Police Center, if you can find your way here. We've got plenty of files for you to look over." I sent a quick wave to Hutch that she'd arrived. |

10/11/10 "Dr. Akira Wells, medical examiner, I suppose." Rachel's face scrunched into an expression that basically read 'ew, that's gross.' "So you cut on dead folks?" she asked. "The Butcher cuts on live ones." Rachel didn't mean to draw a comparison in any way between Dr. Wells and the Butcher. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that to come out that way," she apologized sincerely. "I was just figuring you'd know about all the workings of a body that he takes out. What they're for and how it gets done..." She wasn't making it any better. Plus she was babbling. She always babbled when she was in a situation where she felt a little intimidating. Dr. Wells was probably very intelligent. Had proper schooling and all. Not like her. I wonder if Cooper would rather sex up someone like her, she thought. "Doc? er.. Doctor Wells, we're in the Police Center, if you can find your way here. We've got plenty of files for you to look over." A perfect out. A way to leave. "That'd be that way," Rachel said pointing down the hallway Cooper had just shuffled her out of. "Cooper's the cute one and he's mine." She was staking her territory. She liked her Collector and didn't want anyone else horning in on her area. "The other two are shagging each other," she continued. "Caught them right her in the galley not too long ago." She pointed to the counter where they had been. "I'd disinfect that area over there before I made a sandwich," she warned. Then she added another comment to further make her territory quite clear. "Tell Cooper that I will be waiting for him in his room." |

10/11/10 "Yeah, I did look at those" Adria replied, glancing over at the searches she had running. "It's not surprising he's got that information. The sheriff and several others are most definitely corrupt. They probably made copies and passed them on to Ink. Very likely at his...and I use this word loosely...'request'." She continued her pacing, glancing at Cooper and Andrew frequently...though a little more often at the later. "I've got my money on Ink for this. He seems to fit. Sadistic, sociopath, local ties, knows the area well." She ticked off the points on her fingers as she walked. "He was on Sihnon with at least one of his parents at the time of the murders there. And if you've read the information I turned up, you'll also see the bit about him slaughtering an animal in the place his father worked...and the bit about the enjoyment he took in it." Adria stopped her pacing when her mind processed the name Bradford and the phrase fairy dressmaker. Her route had taken her near Andrew at about the time she stopped. "I don't recall reading anything about this Bradford character in the files, and no one else has mentioned that particular person" she said. "You want to fill me in?" Despite appearances, it wasn't a 'yes or no answer' type of question. She hooked her thumbs into her belt loops and looked at Cooper expectantly while she waited for the explanation. |

10/11/10 Akira blinked surprisedly, as the girl babbled on and on about the butcher, comparing her to him. The only real similarity between them was the fact that they "cut up" bodies. The huge difference, however, was that the Butcher did it for fun and tortured the poor souls, and Akira's job was to find cause of death and anything that might be considered of interest. Akira spoke for those who could no longer speak about their own body, she didn't mutilate them like some madman. However, she refrained from making a comment that might be considered rude. "I know the human body quite well. I'm an actual doctor as well. One who treats live patients too." She smiled at the girl, before pausing at the sound of the comm. Cooper wrote: "Doc? er.. Doctor Wells, we're in the Police Center, if you can find your way here. We've got plenty of files for you to look over." She blinked again, deciding at that moment that the young woman would never cease to surprise her. What made this young woman think that she would want anything to do with her "Collector". They dabbled in a practice that was far beyond her, and she would want to keep as far of a distance from such things as possible. Rachel could have her collector, Akira would rather keep to herself. "Thank you very much for that um... insight, I'll be on my way then." Making her way down the hall, her bags lightly swaying in her hands, Akira looked around for any sign of people. At least she would be put right to work, which was something she would be grateful for. At the moment she didn't feel like fussing with her things, even though there wasn't much to them at the moment. It was something that could be dealt with later, she had better and more important things to do. "I believe I was summoned." |

10/12/10 I shrugged at Adria's request. "I got nothing. I like Ink for anything. We've got him for assault on a Fed, plenty for corruptions charges. I wouldn't mind pursuing your leads on the killing of the Sheriff, corrupt or not he was law enforcement. Police are supposed to not take kindly to that sort of thing. Big shot military was killed, and several more at an officer's club...." I was wandering. I had nothing. "Check with Hutchins. I'd love to go hunt down Ink and company." ...the forensics lady came in dressed for cocktails. I stood up proper like, "Mandrake. Detective. Afraid we'll through you right into it Doc. A fresh set of eyes on the forensics would be good. The Boss knows your here, he'll likely have other ideas for keeping you busy." I didn't realize what that might mean, so it had been said with a perfectly straight face. I felt sleepy. After I slunk back down into my chair, I turned to look at the data streams flowing in. Was there a clue there? No. I didn't really believe there was. We'd catch this one by luck. Or not. So... I stood up. "Come on, let's go back to Ink's place and look through the rest of his files." I looked at Adria and the others. As if.. .ya wanna? ya got something better? |

10/12/10 She didn't quite know what he meant by that comment about the captain, but she was going to let it slide. Perhaps her mind wasn't in the right place after meeting up with the... young lady upon arrival. She was sure he hadn't meant it how it sounded, so she wasn't going to comment on it. Besides, it seemed like they had a lot on their mind at the moment, most likely a case they were working on. Needless to say it caught her interest. Akira smiled in the polite way she always did whenever she met new people. "I don't mind at all. I'm here to work after all. I don't think I would have it any other way." She reached out for the file, and carefully looking over it. It was odd that someone who committed such a brutal crime would be so careful and intimate in placing the organs so neatly, and the different things the killer took. "Well that's certainly odd. Killers who take souvenirs from their victims are generally consistent... taking just toes, or fingers... but this killer took different body parts. I wonder why he found those body parts important." Akira didn't really have anything else to offer other than that. She could tell one thing though, someone who took so much precision and care might be a doctor. "You wouldn't happen to know if any of your suspects are doctors do you?" A killer didn't generally take such precautions with such things. "I hope that doesn't apply to me. I have much to do, and little time to do it. After all, I have yet to see my quarters..." |

"Mac"
|
10/14/10 Mac listened to Hutch’s suppositions. For the most part, they had matched hers and quite closely. It was good to know she hadn’t missed anything important. But she had been hoping Hutch had seen something she hadn’t. They still had no solid leads. They had a good m. o., but nothing that could point them in the direction of the Butcher yet. From the data they had gathered, Mac could sense their time was running out. The Butcher would soon be moving on. “So, you don’t see anything that would point us in a good direction either. Cao, but I can’t see a way to solve this in time. Worse, based on his usual, he’ll be moving on soon and we’ll lose any chance we have of catching him.” She sighed, but was interrupted by the beeping of her pad as new data came in. Most of it was just a repeat of the previous and told her little that was new. More whores murdered, same method. But she did notice that once again, it ended with the face being removed. Why that was, Mac couldn’t guess, but it was a possibly significant clue there and she mentally added it to all the rest. The backgrounds on Ink and the conference were more useful. A fashion convention could tie Bradford to Sihnon and it was now known that Ink was present as well. A ten-year-old Ink perhaps, but it was more than they had had before. She commed the ship. “Cooper, it’s Mac. Can you or someone else add Bradford to the searches? I’ve got reason to believe he’s a suspect now, too.” Then they reached Bradford’s, only to discover it was closed. To Mac’s suspicious eyes, it could have meant he was the Butcher and out there and murdering. And if he wasn’t, he was still a source of information. Finding him now could make or break this case, so it was worth the shot. She looked up at Hutch, oddly noticing that he did look very good in those trousers, although that could have been the satisfaction that they might yet solve this case that was talking instead. “Have you got any idea where he usually celebrates, sir? I think it’s important now that we find him.” |
