Hutch smiled weakly as Akira came over to him.

"Don't worry, Lily will certainly be fine. She may need some psychological counseling if you ask me, but that's entirely up to her if she decides to take it."

"She's really resilient, I am pretty sure she'll be OK," he told her. Then he thought of Reese and how she ran after she was attacked. "I'll make sure she knows that it is available to her though. I don't want this to cripple her. She's a fighter though."

"I'm surprised at how long Ms. Eva has lasted around here. If she were in a hospital she would have been fired for improper behavior."

Hutch actually smiled at that comment.

"Eva's a fighter too, just in a different way," he told her. "She saw a lot of action in the war. Took care of a foster brother of mine really well before he passed."

He closed his eyes again. Just that admission adding to the weight on his shoulders. Another person he cared about who got hurt.

"She's got manners if she wants to have them," Hutch defended her a bit. "Plus she's just mad that I made her dress scantily and serve as a Call Girl for the last couple of days."

But then his smile sobered again. Any mention of the case brought him back to Lily.

"Oh I'm sorry, we haven't been properly introduced. Dr. Akira Wells."

Hutch welcomed the professional interaction.

"I'm Captain Jeremiah Hutchins. The Constable is my ship," he introduced himself. "Just don't be all formal. I like to run a team environmenmt here. Just call me Hutch and if'n you get something on your mind, make sure you speak up."

He looked around.

"Our other patient fly the coop already?"

"Mostly" Adria replied after taking a moment to try to figure out Andrew's thoughts. She studied him for several more moments, then moved abruptly away from him. She let out a soft snort of bitter, humorless laughter and paced the confines of the small room.

"I shouldn't have bothered I'm guessing" she said, her tone a mix of bitterness, anger...and barely detectable was hurt. "Should've known better than to do this" she muttered in a softer tone, referring to having jumped into bed with Andrew the way she had...letting business and personal mix...nine times out of ten, it was a bad idea. It wasn't like men she'd slept with had never changed their minds before or gone back on what they said...this wasn't the first time it'd happened. This was the first time it had bothered her at all, though. Ordinarily...she couldn't give two fraks, and in some cases had even been relieved. So...why did it upset her this time? Adria didn't know, and couldn't figure it out, and that just added to her annoyance, making her a bit more snappish than normal. "Well go on then. I'd say 'see you around' but we both know that's not going to happen" she added, the emotion in her tone thickening a little. She gestured to the door as she continued to pace, clearly thinking Andrew intended to go off alone.

Yangtree found some scrubs and his gear in a locker. He dressed as he made his way out of the ship. At the guard gate he flagged down a taxi.

Cooper Mandrake wasn't far behind, he'd packed quickly and headed out. His paperwork complete, or near enough.

"Need a ride gumshoe."

Mandrake just looked at him. "Which way you headed?" he asked.

"Away, far away."

"That'd be my destination."

They slid into the cab and headed to the far end of the docks. A merc ship waited. And a fast transport to Mrs. Mandrake.

Akira would have to see manners to believe that they came from Eva herself. Then again, Akira didn't really think Eva was capable of having them, but he seemed genuine about it, so she supposed she would have to try and believe it herself, though it would take some effort on her part. Of course, Akira didn't really know Eva all that well, and she probably didn't plan to any time soon with a demeanor that was as sour as a lemon.

She nodded as a small chuckle passed through her lips. "But Jeremiah is a wonderful name. However, if you wish to be called Hutch I'm sure I can respect your wishes." Her eyes looked over to where Rex had once resided, which was now empty. "He left as soon as he was feeling up to it, which is why I've had so much time to devote to secretly keeping an eye on Ms. Lily. He'll be just fine though, eventually." Personally, Akira wished that he waited around longer, but she couldn't stop him from leaving if he really wanted to. He was deemed fit, after all.

Hutch nodded, thankful that she was doing that.

"Jeremiah might be a good name for some, but it never seemed to suit me," he admitted. "And I'm glad you are looking after Lily too. She needs to be taken care of every once in a while."

Hutch looked over at Lily, who began to stir.

"Looks like she's waking up," he said with a lighter heart. But he didn't want to see her. Well, that's not true. He wanted her. He wanted to be near her. To be with her again, but he was too close. He knew it. He had gotten foolish. He wasn't going to put himself in that situation again. Ever. "I gotta go. Keep me updated."

And quite abruptly, he left.

She felt groggy, almost drugged. Everything was like in slow motion. She thought she had heard Hutch's voice.

"Hutch?" she rasped.

But then he seemed to be gone. She was confused and all she wanted was to see someone familiar.

Where was she?

Why was she there?

Then her memory cleared some. She remembered. Every slice he gave her. Every time his hands were around her throat. The helplessness. The fear of death.

She forced her eyes open, but was first blinded by the harshness of the light. But her mind hadn't quite quite fought through the confusion. The first thing she thought she saw was the face of Silas Bradford loomed over her, his knife in one hand and his hand around her neck.

And she let out a blood curdling scream, while trying to move her heavy limbs away and off the infirmary bed.

Akira watched as Hutch suddenly departed, as Lily started to wake up. There was apparently a lot there that she didn't understand, but again, it wasn't her place so she wouldn't press the manner. Instead she simply let him escape from the room, fearing something that couldn't really be explained... not for now at least. Maybe one day the man would want to talk about it to someone, but it was better if it wasn't pressed until he was ready, that is if he'd ever be ready. Either way, he was no longer her concern as the young woman began to wake.

Of course, she had woken in a way that Akira had suspected she would; panicked, scared, back in that place. However, it startled her nevertheless. With a sense of urgency, Akira rushed to Lily's side and gently grabbed her hand, stroking it with a kind hand and speaking in gently tones. "Lily. Lily, dear... its okay. You're okay. You in the infirmary, and you need to stay in bed." She gently tried to coax the panicked young woman to lay back in the bed, trying not to panic her any more than she already was. It was lucky for the young woman that some doctors don't leave patients unintended, or the poor dear would have been absolutely alone. "It's all right, I'm a doctor, but you can call me Akira."

Andrew snapped from his depressive state and eyed Adria, puzzled. "Wait a minute," he said, catching the hint. "What do you think is going on here?"

He stood up. "I'm not going anywhere." Sadly, that was true enough. He gave her a look. "I mean... Unless you want me to go?" He hated these guessing games. It was hard wrapping his mind around a woman. There were so many signals, so many things he had to be careful about saying. Adria was his first real experience when it came to a relationship. There were not many things he didn't know how to do, but keeping a woman happy and interested was by far the most difficult. Although deep down he found enjoyment having a partner that would test his skills in this specific department.

Lily's heart was pounding. She couldn't breathe. His hands were around her throat again. She was panicking.

And it wasn't real.

"Lily. Lily, dear... its okay. You're okay. You in the infirmary, and you need to stay in bed.

"It's all right, I'm a doctor, but you can call me Akira."

The woman's tenderness in her touch and voice, soothed Lily. She fell back onto the bed, crying softly.

"He's gone right? The Butcher? Did they catch him?" Lily asked a little groggily. "And... What infirmary? Where am I?"

He heard her call his name and he left anyway. His chest felt tight. He felt guilty. But it had to be done. It wasn't good for him and technically it wasn't good for her either. Hutch had convinced himself that he was a death magnet. Too many folks around him get killed or hurt.

He went to his bunk and tried to get back into doing paperwork, but couldn't. His mind was so scattered. However, he did see that he received a text wave.

He almost hoped it would be a major crisis. He wanted something to sink his teeth into. Something to keep his mind off the beautiful whore in the infirmary that he knew all too well. And who knew him all too well in return.

To: Captain Jeremiah Hutchins, ILEV Constable

From: Marshall Jude Kendall, Allied Law Enforcement, Witness Protection Service

I have a need for an emergency Witness Relocation. I have cleared it through your superiors that you and the Constable will be providing transportation. I understand that your ship is currently docked at Eavesdown. We will be arriving in two days time and will need to depart immediately.

I am looking forward to meeting you and your crew.

"Great," Hutch said under his breath. "I don't have a rutting pilot or a mechanic."

Adria paused and looked at Andrew. "Well, it seems to me you're not too happy that I'm mostly packed, which means you've changed your mind and don't want me to come along after all" she replied, her tone somewhat snappish.

She sighed and walked over to stand in front of him when he said he wasn't going anywhere unless she wanted him to. She didn't quite know what to think. All of this was new territory to her. Adria draped her arms over his shoulders, as was her habit when they stood this close now. She rested her forehead against his, and locked her eyes on his. "No...I don't want you to." That much she did know. "Something's...off...though. I'm not sure what, but that look you've got...your body language...something's going on. What is it?" She leaned back enough to fully look at him. Though her tone had been gentle, her eyes demanded answers.

Hutch thought about what he had to do.
Quote:

1) Find a pilot.
2) Find a mechanic.
3) Ask Adria and Andrew if they were staying on.

With Cooper and Mac leaving, he needed some folks to help cover the missing positions. While they didn't have direct law enforcement experience, Adria did have a private investigative background. Andrew also seemed smart and both worked hard with the case once they were involved. One thing for sure is that they had heart.

He thought he heard some arguing when he got close to their room, so he made sure he was loud when walking closer to their door. When he got there, he knocked on their door.

"Sorry to interrupt," he said calmly. "I was just wondering if you all were going to stay on. I liked the work you both did and I could use you. We have another assignment starting in about 2 days."

He shrugged at them.

"It also includes a paycheck, warm bed to sleep in and all the food you could eat," he continued. "What do you say?"

Andrew sighed and gently pushed himself away from Adria's hold. If he was going to tell her this, there was no way he would be able to sound as convincing being so close, his eyes directly locked with hers. He paced to the other side of the room, a hand rested on his forehead in a stressful motion. He looked to her, though his eyes didn't meet hers. He opened his mouth to speak- before a knock came to the door.

Andrew found himself all the more tense as Hutch entered the room.

Hutch says:
"Sorry to interrupt," "I was just wondering if you all were going to stay on. I liked the work you both did and I could use you. We have another assignment starting in about 2 days." "It also includes a paycheck, warm bed to sleep in and all the food you could eat," "What do you say?"

Andrew made a side glance to Adria, wondering if who should speak first. Seeing as he was the one to change the plans, he decided it should be one. "I think were going to stay," he said, surprised by how genuine his tone came out.

Adria's eyes narrowed when Andrew moved away...and was again annoyed at herself for being bothered over it. Her jaw clenched and her face closed off, giving away nothing of her thoughts or feelings. She turned and took a step or two towards the door, intending to go for a walk...or something...she didn't know, really. She was about halfway to it when there was a knock at it, and it opened to reveal Hutch.

When he asked them to stay on, Adria paused a few moments in consideration. A few minutes ago, she'd have said they already had plans...but now...she didn't know. She didn't look at Andrew. She nearly did when he answered Hutch, but managed to refrain. "Sounds great, Hutch" she replied, her tone and smile warm. It wasn't Hutch she was upset with, after all. "I'll go ahead and get settled in, then. I'll be staying in this room? Didn't have time to unpack properly before, and didn't want to assume now" she added, indicating her nearly re-packed bags.

"I think were going to stay."

"Sounds great, Hutch"

Hutch nodded with a certain amount of relief.

"I'll go ahead and get settled in, then. I'll be staying in this room? Didn't have time to unpack properly before, and didn't want to assume now."

"I'm actually going to change things up a little. We have two guests coming on board and with Cooper and Mac gone, I'd like to keep an entire suite for their use," Hutch told them. "Adria, I'd like you to bunk in the same suite as Akira. That's Suite 3, Bunk A.

"Eva isn't really suitemate material, I wouldn't put you through that," he turned to Andrew. "That leaves you with the forward bunk. I'm sorry, it's not a suite, but I can always change it later. You actual room is the same side, but there's no lounge area.

"Oh... And it's the one immediately forward of mine. I hope you don't mind having me as a neighbor."

Hutch put on a smile to try to make the man feel welcome. he didn't know how well it worked though.
