Hutch
|
8/24/10 "I'm going to take a look around the Wilds and ask a few questions, see if I can track the girl down. Don't worry, I won't spend too much time at it. If I don't find anything, I'll head back to the ship and start in on research. If nothing else, wandering around the Wilds a bit will give me an idea of the layout of the place if I need to go there again" "You feel like you're up to this? You're still a bit banged up and going all alone might invite some trouble," Hutch asked her. "I just don't want to see another one of my crew go down. The Wilds are a little more rough than the rest of the District." Hutch looked at Andrew, but still put his attention on Adria. "Adria? If you need help, I can send Andrew to help you canvass the area. We were heading off to try to locate the Reverend. We have evidence that puts him at the scene," Hutch told her. "What do you need?" |

8/25/10 Adria winced at the reminder of her injuries. She'd gotten to the point where she could largely ignore the pain, and she'd never been the vain sort so the injuries to her face didn't bother her much except for the pain part on occasion. "Of course I'm up to it" she replied automatically. She paused a moment and thought. She was used to working alone, injured or not...but Hutch had a point about going into the Wilds alone. Well...any district where there was known prostitution. Particularly with her obvious injuries. "Backup might not be a bad idea, though" she added. Adria caught sight of a cafe about half a block down. "I'll be at the Blue Recluse." She gave the address and took a table with her back against the wall where she could watch the street and watch who was coming and going. And no one could sneak up on her. She ordered a cup of coffee and people-watched while she waited. |

"Mac"
|
8/25/10 Mac leaned into Kiki’s gentle touch, promising herself it would only be for a little bit then she had to get back to work. There was an advantage to being with another woman, there was no pressure to perform, no need to appease a fragile ego. It was the one place Mac could truly be herself, and not have to play at being someone else and she relished the chance while she could. She wouldn't waste what little she'd been given, so she drew what solace she could from Kiki. But, all too soon and with genuine regret, she pulled away. “Thanks, Kiki. I really wish I could stay and let the moment take this where it will. But, like you, I too, have a quota to make. Not to mention a partner that I’ve left on her own outside.” She sighed, partly with regret for the lost moment, partly because she was not expecting to leave this encounter with any useful information. She felt that she was wasting a good opportunity for her own healing in an ineffectual attempt to fulfill her duty. “What can you tell me about Cody Denninger? He’s apparently the son of one of the whores here.” |

8/26/10 “Thanks, Kiki. I really wish I could stay and let the moment take this where it will. But, like you, I too, have a quota to make. Not to mention a partner that I’ve left on her own outside.” Kiki nodded as she gave her hand another squeeze, then backed away ever so slightly. "I'm here ifs you needs me," Kiki reassured knowing that the woman could come back or even change her mind now. She could tell that Mac was really hurting and was really in the need for comfort. “What can you tell me about Cody Denninger? He’s apparently the son of one of the whores here.” "Littles Cody?" she asked a smile on her face. "Sweet boy. His mother was a victims of the Butcher. The firsts I think. I really thinks he is betters off now. Thats woman used to beats him within an inch of his lifes and woulds make him sits outside their hovels when she had a customer, no matters the weather or times of day. Ones of my customers used to give hims shelter whens he needed it. Founds him a family thats would care fors him." She paused, knowing that Mac was probably going to leave now. "Are you sure you don't want to stay here? With me?" |

8/28/10
I muttered "of course" to her being naked in my bed. Make yourself at home. I took a seat on the edge of the bed and moved the sheet off her pert perfect bottom, it had a few red marks and my hand found good cause to moved softly across it and up on her back, being careful to avoid the welts. "I take it this finally means you're going to stay put for awhile?" I didn't expect an answer, not a straight one. Hadn't got one yet, but she seemed more in the mood to talk straight, she'd come to my bed to recoup. I tried not to sound like I had evil intentions to whoever had whipped her, my voice steady and calm, "Rachel. I need you to tell me who did this. And why." |

8/29/10 Mac squeezed Kiki's hand in return, grateful that the offer was still there, even though Mac wasn¡¯t able to take it up just then. Kiki wrote: "Are you sure you don't want to stay here? With me?" "I'll be back when I can. I just can't relax right now; not while I have so many responsibilities hanging over my head. "I'll get the captain to give me some time off. I don't think he'll say no. Then I'll be back and we can make it a girls' night out, if you want. I don't know if you can handle it, but I could use a good drunk right about now. I haven't spent my wages on much thus far, so I figure I've got enough for a good bender. As long as I'm back to work the next morning. "But, I've got to get somewhere with this case. Beyond the fact that the wangbadan is still out there and still murdering, it's my job if we don't crack this case and soon." Her eyes pleaded for understanding. Given a choice, Mac would much rather have stayed. Beyond the fact that today looked to be another fruitless day of searching, she could have used the healing. Being with Kiki was far more preferable than going out there again, beating the streets, laying her life quite possibly on the line. And certainly Kiki was much easier to talk to and be around than Ink, which was who she could probably look forward to instead. "Any idea where I could find Cody?" she asked. She wasn't really sure how to bring up the topic of a later visit. She really only wanted.... Well, she wasn't sure what she wanted. She'd have to think on it and hopefully find out at some point just why she was there. Also means "bastard" (literally, son of a turtle), but is rather stronger than hundan. |

8/31/10 Rachel purred at Cooper's touch of her bare skin. Skin that he made sure that was no longer covered. "Rachel. I need you to tell me who did this. And why." "I'm not gonna spill my guts on a regular client," she told him, full of fire. "Not good for future business." She turned slightly to face him, wincing a bit as she did. "Not unless you have something to offer, Collector," she added with a wicked smile. "You have anything that I might be interested in?" |

8/31/10 Kiki nodded understandingly as Mac begged off. “Any idea where I could find Cody?” "As I saids, a clients of mine mades sure that he founds a nice place to lives. A good family. Ones where he wouldn'ts get beat or puts outside whens it suited his mother. A real family," Kiki told her. "You knows, this life is nots a good place fors children. It's whys I never hads none." Kiki smiled sincerely at Mac. "That's whys I admire a mans like Silas. He knows how to take cares of folks. He gives people works when they needs it. Finds families for kids like Cody. He gives backs to the community," Kiki went on with a smile on her face. "You knows Silas? I'm sure you've beens to his store. His stuffs is the best ins the District. Ands his dresses? He shoulda becomes one of those fancy fashions designers. You knows?" |

8/31/10 "Of course I'm up to it. Backup might not be a bad idea, though. I'll be at the Blue Recluse." Hutch looked at Andrew. "Head on over to meet Adria. But make sure you two don't spend any more time in the Wilds than you have to," he instructed. "We really don't have a lot to go on down there and I want to use our resources well." He flicked the comm. "Mac? You find out any more from Kiki?" he asked. "Adria's gone to take a looksee in the Wilds. I'm sending Andrew down with her. She needs him to watch out for her. She is still injured. "I'm heading to see the Reverend at New Hope Commune. Catch up to me when you can." Hutch flicked the comm off. "You know where the Blue Recluse is?" he asked. "You can meet Adria there." |

8/31/10 "Head on over to meet Adria. But make sure you two don't spend any more time in the Wilds than you have to," Andrew nodded once more. He didn’t give two shits about his concerns; all he wanted to do then and there was see Adria. The moment Hutch gave him the order that was basically all he could think about. "You know where the Blue Recluse is?" “Yes,” he replied simply. Without any further delay, Andrew turned his back to Hutch and left. |

9/1/10 Adria had finished about half her coffee by the time Andrew arrived. Her lips twitched for a moment. She put some money on the table to pay for the coffee and tip the waitress, then stood and walked over to him. "Hey" she said when she reached him, a hint of a smile played at the corners of her mouth. Adria let her eyes roam over his a little before they returned to his. "You ready to...get our errand done?" |

9/1/10 Andrew could not have gotten there sooner. The constant effect she had on him- especially after last night- increased significantly the moment he saw her step out from the coffee shop. As she approached him with a smile, his heart began to beat a little faster. What the hell has this woman done to me...? He stopped before her, barely hearing her words. His eyes slowly scanned her body, and he could not help but lightly lick his lips as he laid his gaze to rest upon her beautiful face. The memory of last night could not have been more clear to him now. Every little detail passed through his mind again and again. Her smooth, soft skin... The warmth of her body... The smell of her... The sounds of her breathe... her moans. Before he knew it, Andrew was leaning in, kissing her. Gentle at first, but as moments passed he grew more aggressive... hungrier. He slid his hands around her waist, almost too tightly, though he quickly became reminded of her injuries and softened his touch. As he pressed on, he pulled her closer, inching his hands down her backside... further. Time seized to exist. Andrew never wanted to let go. But after what could have been an eternity, he softly broke the kiss- still holding her close. Whole heartedly, Andrew smiled. “Sorry,” he said, rather inconvincingly. “...You were saying?” |

9/1/10 Adria wasn't expecting him to kiss her, but that didn't stop her from returning it with enthusiasm equal to his. She let her arms encircle his neck loosely. As his hands brushed against her injured spot, Adria stiffened slightly. She let her body relax against his for a few moments while she teased and explored his mouth with hers. Reluctantly, she allowed the kiss to end...for now. She smirked a little at his comment. "We need to...get going on that job we need to do. We can't spend very long at it. Hour tops, if even that long" Adria replied, her voice slightly husky. There was a bit of heat in her eyes, both from the kiss and from the memories of last night it brought up. Every touch, every taste, and sound. Adria stepped just far enough away to link her arm with his and start off in the direction of the Wilds. It was both a way to maintain contact and a means of walking without stumbling around like she was drunk. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye as they walked, and smiled again. The effect he had on her was almost enough to make her forget any sense of decency and...behave in a very unladylike manner in public. Almost. But...they had a job to do, and she wasn't the sort that cared for an audience...and there'd be plenty of time to misbehave later. Adria couldn't remember anyone effecting her like that before. |

9/1/10 Seeing the look in her eyes, Andrew felt his pants tighten. Though his feelings for her did not consist of pure lust- he would have given anything to be able to sweep her off her feet in that moment and carry her off to a more secluded place rather than the open street. He was so desperate at the notion that he had completely forgotten all other ‘responsibilities,’ and even considered openly suggesting the idea. "We need to...get going on that job we need to do. We can't spend very long at it. Hour tops, if even that long" He sighed, though held his smile. As she led him away with her, Andrew did not look away. He continued to stare at her while they walked, studying her like some rare, fascinating creature nobody in the ‘Verse had ever laid eyes on but him. Grasping her hand as they walked, he said without a hint of distaste, “you disappeared on me this morning. I was looking forward to waking up with you beside me.” He leaned in, kissing her neck, not paying the slightest bit of attention towards where they were going. Had he been in the right state of mind, he might of realized just how strange his behavior was. Perhaps deep down he did know... and simply did not care. |

9/1/10 Mac’s comm beeped and she gave Kiki a “see what I told you?” look. Never a moment’s peace. Hutch wrote: "Mac? You find out any more from Kiki? Adria's gone to take a looksee in the Wilds. I'm sending Andrew down with her. She needs him to watch out for her. She is still injured. I'm heading to see the Reverend at New Hope Commune. Catch up to me when you can." She sighed quietly, reluctant to respond to the hail because that meant her free time was over. It was back on the job. She thanked Kiki for her time and help and gave the woman a quick hug and a promise to see her later, then rushed out the door. Along the way, she commed Hutch back. “I found out a little from Kiki about Cody Denninger. It’s not much and I don’t know if it’s important, but I’d like to follow up on it with Bradford when I get the chance. On my way to New Hope now. Meet you at the entrance?” She raced to New Hope, spotting Hutch by the gate and nodded silently in greeting as she approached. She hadn’t forgotten her promise to Kiki to request some time off, but now was not the time to ask, so she went professional instead. “You think the Reverend was the one who beat Rachel?” |
