9/7/10 Adria's first thought was anger at the whore for the sheer rudeness she displayed in trying to drag Andrew away...both because they were working at the moment, and because...she tried to shy away from the thought, but there was no denying the fact that she'd had the urge to mark her territory so to speak. She was surprised at her reaction...and confused as to why she'd had it to begin with. Such a reaction was entirely foreign to her. Adria was careful not to let any of her thoughts show, however. She raised an eyebrow slightly, her expression one of mild annoyance while she waited for Andrew to respond to the whore's offer. Adria focused her mind on the fact that the whore was interfering with them doing their jobs...refusing to let any other thoughts into her mind again. Her expression remained the same, but she couldn't help feeling a bit of relief at Andrew's look...no matter how much she tried to deny it to herself. "Speaking of time..." she added, speaking mostly to Andrew. She kept up the annoyed act as much as possible, despite the hint of amusement that now showed in her eyes. "We have a job to do, and not much time in which to do it." Adria turned her attention to the whore. "Thank you for the information. You've been most helpful. But we really must be going I'm afraid." |

9/7/10 Andrew and Adria pressed on. As they began to settle the distance between them this Jiangyin whore, he glanced sideways at her and said lowly. “How should we go about doing this? We don’t want to frighten her off, and from what I can tell lately your crew hasn’t had too much luck getting information out of whores.” He glanced back briefly at the whore behind them, thinking. “They seem to be less intimidated with me,” he told her. “If think it will help, I can do most of the talking...” |

9/7/10 Adria thought back to Mac's little act earlier with Kiki. Most whores would do nearly anything for money. It gave her an idea. "I think I know how we can get some information" she replied. She tossed a grin at Andrew. "Don't let it give you any ideas though...what you might think is going to happen isn't. I'm not that sort of woman" she added teasingly, adding in a playful nudge. When they reached the whore, Adria put on a slightly flirty act. She was starting to learn how things worked in this district. Not being an official cop would help, too...it meant she could play that sort of game...to a point. "Hey" she said, allowing a smile to curve her lips. Adria moved in close and lowered her voice, pulling out a few credits as she did so. "We're investigating those murders that have been occurring around here, and were told you might have some information about that" she indicated Andrew with a flick of her head. "I understand you came from Jiangyin, and that there was a similar case there a few years ago. We need to know what you know about it." Adria paused a moment, still pretending to be flirting with the whore. "I also understand you may not want to talk about such a thing in a public place...and that you have a quota to make. If you're willing to share the information, we can make it look like a proposition and go someplace a bit more private. You will of course be paid for that time. We all have to make a living after all. Just keep in mind this isn't a real proposition, and there isn't going to be any sex involved. Just a sharing of information." Adria smiled at the whore, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. She wasn't sure her idea would even work. "What do you say? You'll still get your fee, and all you'll have to do is answer some questions for us." She was willing to bet that it would be some of the easiest money the whore would earn...and she wouldn't have to fear getting beaten or abused in any way by Adria or Andrew. |

9/7/10 "I think I know how we can get some information" The second she said that Andrew knew instantly from the look in her eye what she was up to. In return she must have noticed from his look that he was quickly jumping to conclusions. "Don't let it give you any ideas though...what you might think is going to happen isn't. I'm not that sort of woman" Andrew dropped his play full gaze and replaced it with a warm smile, he understood. He walked with her to the target- or rather, the possible ‘witness,’ eyeing the whore as they got closer. He paused before her along with Adria. While she talked, Andrew found himself silently hoping she was handling the little speech right and the whore would go for it. "I understand you came from Jiangyin, and that there was a similar case there a few years ago. We need to know what you know about it." Figuring he’d give the upcoming attempt for reassurance a bigger boost, he noticeably drifted up behind the whore. "I also understand you may not want to talk about such a thing in a public place...and that you have a quota to make. If you're willing to share the information, we can make it look like a proposition and go someplace a bit more private. ” Andrew leaned in from behind, sliding a light hand in around the whores waist. Brushing her hair away from the back of her neck- he leaned in and kissed her skin. Afterwards, he tilted his head upright to her shoulder, breathing softly into her ear. Catching Adria’s eye, he winked. "What do you say? You'll still get your fee, and all you'll have to do is answer some questions for us." “A very... satisfying fee at that,” he said, his lips still inches from her ear. With his free hand he slipped out a handsome bundle of credits, flashing it before the whores eye. “How does that sound?” |

9/7/10 Jade looked at Adria with barely feighned indifference. "Jiangyin is my past, I'm moving forward and don't neccesarily want to relive the past." But then the yound man with the woman came up behind her. He had his hand on her waist... his hand brushing away her hair and he was kissing her skin there. It was very seductive. “A very... satisfying fee at that. How does that sound?” Her face lit up as soon as she caught eye of the credit notes he held. "OK... Here's the deal. I will tell you about Jaingyin, but I want paid in advance," she demanded. She turned to Andrew. "And I will only talk to this stud muffin. So what's your name, big boy?" She dragged her finger over his chest. "You wanna come down to my hovel?" she asked. "It's nothing special... but it does have a mattress." |

9/8/10 "She doesn't know anything, or just doesn't care enough to share the information. Either way, let's get back to the others" Adria said switching her gaze to Andrew, her tone and expression going cold and professional again. She motioned for Andrew to pocket the credits. "It'll take longer, but we can no doubt find the same information on the cortex." Adria wasn't bluffing in the least. She was fully prepared to walk away...without giving the girl so much as a single credit. "So...we go search the cortex, and if it takes longer and another whore dies as a result...so be it. We'll make more progress that way than standing around here wasting time playing pointless games with people who only pretend to have information, and who don't seem to give a rat's ass whether or not they're the Butcher's next victim." She gave Andrew a significant look, telling him silently to follow her lead. She turned her attention back to Jade. "If you really do have any information worth sharing, you talk to us both. And we pay you after you share the information. We're not going to give you a single credit in advance just to have you lie to us in return. Otherwise, we walk." If the threat of losing the money didn't change the girl's mind then nothing would. Adria didn't have the time or the patience to stand around and play games when there was a killer to catch. They just didn't have the time for it...no one on the crew did. Part of her felt bad for being so cold and seemingly uncaring, but they couldn't waste time on petty things. Especially not when the victims themselves didn't seem to even want the help...almost as if the whores wanted to die. Adria paused for a silent count of ten, giving the girl a chance to change her mind before the deal was taken off the table. |

"I take it that she wears the pants in this relationship then?" she remarked with a smirk. "Or is she always this overbearing?" Jade turned slightly towards Adria, but still kept most of her attention on Andrew. "I have information, for sure, but I'm not exactly worried about the Butcher or whatever they call him here," Jade said. "If he's the same guy, he's moved on from the Wilds into greener pastures. I'd be more worried if I was a Gem or one of those high falluting Companion types in the city." She turned back to stroke Andrew's cheek. "I would tell you more, but I ain't been paid yet," she continued, looking into Andrew's eyes. "We get the unscrupulous types down here who like to bump nethers and run before payment is given. So we get it up front. I wasn't treating you special none; it's just how it's done." She inched a little closer to Andrew. "And I guess she could come to the hovel as well," she sighed. "I just think you're prettier and less... abrasive than she is." She turned back and smirked at Adria. "After all, I do have a quota to achieve and I can't do it here yakking with you both for free." |

9/8/10 “Reverend Marley? Allied Law Enforcement. Can you come out to talk to us?” When they didn't hear anything, Hutch and Mac availed themselves into his abode. You never know. Was that a suspicious sound coming from inside? Maybe he is injured? At least that would have been the story if anything would be mentioned at a later date to any kind of Hutch's superior officers. They did a search on the rooms, but no one was there. "The man at the gate was definitely covering for the Reverend," Hutch said. "If he truly wasn't here, wouldn't he have just maintained that instead of letting us in at the slightest threat?" Hutch looked at Mac apologetically. "Not that you aren't threatening," he backpedaled. "Heck, even I was scared." He smiled at her, hoping to bring some levity to the day. They could all use a joke just about now. Hutch clicked on his comm. "Cooper? Did you find out anything from Rachel?" Hutch asked. "Was the Reverend responsible for her injuries?" He looked back at Mac. "Maybe give us an idea of his state of mind?" |

9/8/10 Nah...he wears the pants...I just pick the color Adria thought automatically, but refrained from saying. Her lips twitched slightly in amusement at the thought. She also refrained from pointing out that if Jade had accepted the deal in the first place, they'd be back at her hovel already instead of wasting time here...so it was really the girl's own fault. She did raise an eyebrow and let more of her amusement show at the comment about being abrasive. "Silly me...here I thought straightforwardness and honesty would be appreciated" Adria said somewhat archly. "Well...lead on then. We've all got work to do and the faster we get this done with the faster we can go our separate ways...us to our work and you to yours." After a moment, Adria retrieved the credits she'd put back into her pocket and held them out again. "A small advance. You'll get the rest once we're inside. Walking around with that many credits in the open is just asking for trouble." Her tone had returned to being conversational rather than bordering on confrontational, and her posture and expression had relaxed into something resembling her earlier friendliness...but her tension was still visible. Though she had been fully ready and willing to walk away, Adria was a bit relieved the girl had decided to take the deal after all. She let none of her relief show, however. |

9/9/10 Hutch wrote: "Not that you aren't threatening. Heck, even I was scared." Mac knew very well what Hutch was trying to do, but the joke was lost on her. She’d embarrassed herself too acutely in front of him to be comfortable in his presence, no matter the number of lame jokes he might try on her. So she just stood there and arched an eyebrow in his direction, disapproval written all over her face. Levity. Bah! While he was talking to Cooper, she reviewed what they had so far. It was entirely possible the man at the gate had caved just to throw them off the track. Which would mean the Reverend wasn’t here. Alas, they had no idea where he would be if that were the case. While that was the more likely option, they’d have no place to start a search for him. Or, the Reverend was here somewhere. He’d probably be feeling guilty about what he’d done, which meant maybe he would have taken refuge somewhere to assuage that guilt. A chapel perhaps? Do penance for his sin? It was worth a shot. They were already here, they were already wasting time, so why not give it a try. She didn’t believe they’d come up with anything, but she couldn’t leave without having tried all the options, even if they did all lead to dead ends. “Sir, shall we give the chapel a search before we leave? The Reverend just might be there ‘doing penance’.” |

9/9/10 "Cooper? Did you find out anything from Rachel?" The captain commed in, "Was the Reverend responsible for her injuries?" "Maybe give us an idea of his state of mind?" His state of mind? That's the kind of thing I'm supposed to know right? I thought about it a second, but I had no idea. "Yeah, she said the Rev did it, slapped her with the belt and paid for the honor. So she isn't pressing any charges. But she also named him for regular services on Rachel and Jana. So we can pick him up for false statements and obstruction for refusing to answer. That'd get him off the streest for a few months." Not that it would matter, plenty of reverends willing to put a belt on cute tight butts of willing hookers. Yeah, I could see that. I smiled a little as I kept talking and read the reports. "He's likely just a horny huhn dahn boss. Got the spirit bug and the getting the holy septur wet when he can. Just another weak hypocritical working dog like the rest of us." |

9/9/10 “Sir, shall we give the chapel a search before we leave? The Reverend just might be there ‘doing penance’.” "That's a good idea," Hutch agreed. "I was just about to suggest it myself." Cooper commed them back. "Yeah, she said the Rev did it, slapped her with the belt and paid for the honor. So she isn't pressing any charges. But she also named him for regular services on Rachel and Jana. So we can pick him up for false statements and obstruction for refusing to answer. That'd get him off the streest for a few months. "He's likely just a horny huhn dahn boss. Got the spirit bug and the getting the holy septur wet when he can. Just another weak hypocritical working dog like the rest of us." "Thanks Cooper," Hutch commed back. Then he clicked off the comm and turned back to Mac. "If Rachel isn't going to press charges, we can't even bring him in, no matter how much Cooper would like to." Hutch rubbed the back of his neck. "But would he be so frustrated that he might move next door and kill Callista?" Hutch wondered aloud. "Either way, we need to ascertain his whereabouts. Let's go to the chapel." They walked to the chapel and opened the doors. It was dimly lit, but they could see a man kneeling in one of the pews. You could hear soft sobs as he knelt there. Hutch pointed to him and motioned for them to approach him from both sides of the pew. They needed to cut off his exit path, just in case he decided to bolt. He then motioned that he would take the left. They walked down the aisles and slid into the pew on either side of him. He looked up at them, eyes puffy and red. "I expected you," he whispered. "I want to confess... Those girls are all dead because of me." |

9/9/10 New Hope Commune Reverend Marley wrote: "I expected you, I want to confess... Those girls are all dead because of me." Mac slid quietly into the pew on the other side of Marley. She really wanted to snort in derision at his statement, but held herself back. Right, if you’re the Butcher, then I’m the Queen of all Londinium. Still, while playing pattycake with the good Reverend was the last thing she wanted to do, if he was willing to talk, she would do her best not to interrupt that. Besides, it might be interesting to hear his rubbish. Hutch wanted some levity in his day; this was the closest he’d probably get. There was simply no way Mac would believe that the Reverend was the Butcher. Not unless he had multiple personalities. The hard part was going to be her approach. She knew whatever she did, she’d be doing it wrong and that would make Marley clam up again. She seriously considered excusing herself to wait at the door while Hutch talked to him, but she also knew that wouldn’t go over too well either. So, after a long, awkward pause, she spoke, trying to sound sympathetic. Or failing that, at least neutral. “How do you figure that, Reverend? I know you wanted to save those girls, but they made their choices.” She shrugged her shoulders a little. “It’s depressing I know, but the truth is you can’t save anyone who doesn’t want to be saved.” |

9/9/10 “Well let’s get a move on,” Andrew said anxiously. "We wouldn't want you stretching the boundaries of your quota, now would we." He was tired of waiting, and after the gamble Adria had played- he was beginning to grow weary of the little game they had to go through to get these women to talk. Though he was certainly more experienced when it came to dealing with whores, he found little interest in them now. There were plenty of other things on his mind. Like traveling to a nice, sunny, peaceful place by the water to relax with Adria at his side. Greenleaf was the first thing that came to mind. Looking at her now, and the fire that still dwelled in those impatient, determined eyes of hers, he was all too eager to get a move on. This case needed to end, and fast. If not, Andrew was afraid he would end up tying her up and dragging her off anyway before she was through. Still playing it up with the whore, he led her away, still keeping a soft grip around her waist. He kept tabs on Adria, making sure she was going along with it. Flashing another wink, he reached out with his other arm, wrapping his free hand around her waist as well. Pulling her closer to his shoulder, he walked with both woman close to his sides. |
