Taken from Tales of the Lucky Seven - Session 1: Into the Void Timeline: Took place approx. two years before the current pre-BDM timeline. This episode began with Gwendolyn Andrews, the Head of the Ministry's Investigations and Enforcement Division, giving a press conference on behalf of the Ministry of Civil Protection (MCP). She denounced the Sons of Shadow for what she calls “terrorist” activity and vowed to rectify the matter since Parliament had given the MCP authority to crush the terrorists using any means available. These measures were to start on Ariel, where the latest attack was located. Upon watching the broadcast, Mag remembered her as the woman who picked up Pike at Titan right before Pike shot him and left him for dead. The whole crew of the Lucky Seven senses that something was not “right” with her. She seemed to possess a countenance that is just a little *too cold. Dema went about contacting someone he knew within the Sons of Shadow Organization. He told the crew that it might take some time. Cain was surprised that someone like Dema would have a contact in a group such as the Sons of Shadow. In the meantime, Mag found a bunk to rest in. A funny bunk that was painted pink with white doilies scattered about. But it had been occupied by the cook, a woman who was a neat freak. All the other unoccupied bunks had been used for storage and weren’t exactly up to “move-in” status. The rest, Rikka and Dema, were told to grab a bunk as well and have the boxes within them transferred to the cargo bay. Rikka reported about the repairs she completed, along with the ones that would be needed to be done in short order, along with a parts list. Gogol, the man who tried to steal the Lucky Seven on Ariel, was still on board the ship. So far he had been “nice enough” to help himself to some valuables around the ship. He was not happy when he realized that the ship had taken off and demanded that they land. He didn’t want to go with the Lucky Seven. He was a con man and liked to be free to be on his own. Cain warned him that there was an order banning all take offs or landings on Ariel at the moment. He demanded that Gogol explain his reasons for being there, or he’d send him on his way, using the only known exit: the airlock. Gogol provided his name and the true reason he was on board: to steal the Lucky Seven. He also offered his services for the time being. He was a pilot. Cain wasn’t happy to learn about Gogol’s intentions but decided to accept his help for the time being. He also noted that Gogol would be paying for the trinkets he had stolen from the Lucky Seven so far. Dema received word from his contact and was sent coordinates, which he passed on to Cain. They would be going to New Barcelona, which orbited the gas giant Cerberus, a place where their civil war had just ended. An understaffed Alliance garrison was now located there as well. Rikka made the minimum repairs needed to get the Lucky Seven moving again. After that, she garnered a bunk before going about meditating and “reconnecting” with God. She belonged to a deeply religious group. The crew then assembled in the cargo bay to take the time to arm themselves, waiting to disembark on their mission. Their meeting place was at a bar called Resonance. Surprisingly, it was run the Yakuza who dominated the drug scene in the area. It was determined that it be better to stay as a group because of the illegal activity that was prevalent in the area. Noticing that Rikka was unarmed, Cain gives her a knife to use since he was unsure whether or not she was trained to use a gun. Something just made him think that she wasn’t. As they made their way there, the Cortex was playing an interview with Admiral Jonah Stark, the leader of the Ministry of Civil Protection, regarding their authority in cleaning up the terrorist activity. When the crew arrived at the rendezvous point, Mag decided to hang back a little so to hide the fact that he was with them. The members of the crew entered the establishment without notice, except their captain. As Cain stepped up to the door, a probe was activated. After a couple of terse comments were traded back and forth, he was allowed inside. Once entering, he was approached by three goons who requested that he follow them to visit their boss. Of course, a fight ensued and while Cain took out the first guy, weapons trained on his stopped him from further resistance. Luckily his crew saw it happen and Helena came to his aid quickly. In order to diffuse the situation and not scare off the contact, Dema stepped in, complaining that when he booked passage, he didn’t expect to be accosted when they arrived. Acting with the snooty attitude of a companion, Dema worked to mitigate the mess, getting help from Rikka. Finally, the thugs were called off by the owner of the club, who was also their contact. Rikka was actually excited about the confrontation. It was exactly the kind of thing she hoped to experience. Mag hung back and found a place in the club where he could watch and assist if needed, but only managed to inadvertently place himself in the middle of a fist fight over a girl. Three against one; not fair odds at all. Of all people, African Chamberlain went to his side to help and diffused the problem as things were becoming dire. And she revealed that she was quite the martial artist. And artist was the correct word. She was graceful her body and arms moved like she was dancing. This impressed Cain. They found out what they needed to know. Lazarus Pike was on Three Hills, hiding at a safe house/supply depot for the Sons of Shadow. To make things even more complicated, Three Hills was currently embroiled in a civil war. On the way to Three Hills, Rikka and Dema got to know each other. |
