Taken from Tales of the Lucky Seven - Session 2: Ballad of Fallen Angels

Timeline: Took place approx. two years before the current pre-BDM timeline.

Three Hills Disaster

The Capital City of Khandar (population five million) had been thrown into a civil war between rebel fighters and government forces. In the city’s north corner, there was an ion cannon complex. It remained under Alliance control, while the industrial quarter of the city was under rebel control.

The Lucky Seven arrived to collect a bounty on Lazarus Pike valued at 3.000,000 platinum. When arriving, the ship was at first approached by an Alliance F-44 Falcon who stated that all traffic to Three Hills had been prohibited by Governor Lukas Alexander acting under the authority of the Union of Allied Planets. The pilot immediately underestimated the Lucky Seven’s intent for being there, as well as the crew’s dislike for the Alliance and was destroyed post haste. The pilot was lucky enough to have ejected seconds before his ship was destroyed.

They were locked onto by surface to air missiles and they attempted to avoid them by declaring themselves a civilian ship. It didn’t work, but through some expert flying by the Lucky Seven’s fledgling Captain, they managed to crash land on the surface pretty much intact.

Upon coming to rest, a communication between Lazarus Pike, their bounty and a terrorist rumored to be associated with the Sons of Shadow, was issued to the L7 stating that government and PMC troops (bearing the Dysson Interplanetary Security Corporation logo on their flak vests) would be attacking shortly. Help from him would be delayed. Taking that warning to heart, they left the ship and took cover in the city. Surprisingly, they were more than well-armed. This was not their first foray into a situation like that.

Captain Cain was wounded in this initial fight in the shoulder. Shortly thereafter, they joined up with the rebel forces. Former Captain Ian Dugan and at least one other rebel soldier joined their crew during this battle.

The crew of the Lucky Seven were the only survivors of the Three Hills disaster. Using the IAV Phoenix’s nova cannon, the atmosphere and everything under it was scorched to nothingness. Three Hills’ sky and earth had been burned. The ten million people who lived there, were now dead.

In order to try to flush the Lucky Seven’s crew out into the open, Major Gwendolyn Andrews and Admiral Jonah Stark blamed the disaster on Three Hills on the crew of the Lucky Seven, citing that they were terrorists.
