7/13/09 To an on-looker, Melody had simply grounded the point of her sword and stood there as the ship rocketed through atmo and almost landing. She might have been a statue, except for her breathing. In truth, her muscles screamed as she maintained her position by full muscle control. It had been by sheer will power that she stayed right side up at all. She saw Roland enter the bay under the catwalk. She saw Clare and the demon fly downward. She watched Roland move into the medical complex before she moved. She leaped off the catwalk and landed in a fast run. Reaching the walkway into the complex, she jumped over the side and followed Clare. That was the direction the demon had taken. That was the direction the Sword of Seamus was taking Melody. |

7/14/09 "Oh, for the love of..." Pepper stood by the window, wondering if she were possibly the only sane person in the place. Or possibly the known universe. It had been bad enough when the demon had run through her fire ring, Clare seemingly attached as she scrambled along behind. Pepper had winced at that and quickly shut down the flame. She knew Clare had more than a mild aversion to flame. But then they'd both gone through the window. Insane. Then the Nox had practically crash landed in the place. More Insanity. Then, Melody... Melody had willing dived out of the window as well. More insane than insane. Pepper shook her head and stepped back, looking at the cowering crowd around her. She hadn't really been taking notice of them what with all the diving out the window going on. They seemed pretty placid for the moment. She looked to the others in the group. "Hey Roland. You're a little late and a little too dramatic. And please tell me you're not diving out the window two?" Then she spotted Barto. "Do you know if it worked? Did you get the thing before it got out of range?" She scowled. "Where's Mary? Mary?" She looked to where the blind seer had been, stopped for a moment to think about the irony of such an idea, then realised she was looking at blood on the ground where Mary had been. "Mary!" Following the trail, Pepper scuttled around until she found Mary. It only took a moment for her to realise there wasn't anything she could do. Turning her heat down to the point where they were both getting wet, Pepper carefully hefted Mary and headed for the Nox. "Roland, get Barto and get him to the med bay. His lover's just gone off a cliff so he may not be in a good, do as anyone says type of mood. Make sure he knows Mary's dying." She kept talking even as she passed him and headed for the med bay. Laying the prone woman on the first table she came to, Pepper carefully moved the clothes around the wound. She didn't get it. She wasn't a med, but, it just didn't seem that bad. She must be missing something. |

7/15/09
"I think Clare can handle herself," said Roland. "She's nigh on indestructible from what I can gather. What..." Suddenly another beast came out of the darkness. Roland put a slug in it, splitting it in two. "What happened to Mary?" "Barto, we need medical assistance ASAP. Something's happened to Mary and she's not long for this 'Verse," he said through the comlink. "Is something wrong with your communication equipment, Pepper?" Another figure came out of the darkness, to which Roland met with a hard butt of his shotgun to the nose. The figure went down with an all too human scream. Shivering and crying in the corner, a male orderly cowered. "Please...please don't hurt me!" "I...um, sorry about that," said Roland sheepishly. |

7/15/09 Mary regained consciousness as Pepper was checking her wound. It was still bleeding freely. With some effort, she lifted up her hand a couple of inches. "This red?" Mary asked groggily. "Never seen color afore." She laid her hand back down on the table and into a growing pool of blood from her wound. Mary's heart was racing, she was paling and she felt chilled. "It's really not bad," she whispered, looking up at Pepper. "But the blood won't stop. I'm gonna bleed out from a minor graze." Mary touched Pepper's forearm. "B-Bullets had poison on them... or d-drugs," she softly continued as her eyes got droopy. "Don't know if their other weapons did. Have B-Barto check every-everyone." Mary's hand slipped off Pepper's arm. "I'm c-cold." |

7/15/09 On her way to the med bay, Pepper glowered at Roland even though he was behind her and wouldn't be able to see. She yelled back over her shoulder. "Kinda carrying someone... hard to press buttons and such. Plus, I mentioned his lover and the cliff? Logic like 'vampire, can't die' probably not in his head at the mo. Personal touch might be more convincing." She had used as few words as possible, firstly because Mary was getting heavy, secondly because she was moving away from Roland and not in a position to use the coms as she'd just pointed out. There was only so loud she could yell, and moving away from him as she had been, she hadn't had many words before she was out of range of his hearing. The wound looked like it was just a graze. It didn't seem to go in and then out again at least. Pepper was tempted to seal it with some heat if Barto didn't get there soon. She had to remind herself that a good flambé was not the answer to everything. She just hated feeling useless. She had some hope as Mary spoke, at first not noticing the words she was so pleased just to hear her voice. Then it registered. "You can see? Wait, poison? Shit!" And that was it, a revelation, some bad news, and being worried about everyone else when she was the one bleeding and Mary was out of it again. "Mary? Mary. Oh, come on." She went back to fretting, but she had hope. Nothing to do now but wait for Barto and to hope Clare really was indestructable. Not to mention Melody. Again Pepper frowned. How nuts was that? The woman's sword might be magic, but unless it gave her wings, what the hell could it do for you once you'd jumped off a cliff? She decided to follow Rolands badly timed advice and pressed her com link. "Will someone who has any idea on healing get their ass into the med bay immediately! Please?" |

7/15/09 Roland ran to catch up with Pepper. "Need some help with her?" The building shook ominously. Roland could feel the floor buckle as a chunk of the building fell to the ground below. "That..doesn't sound good. Sorry, it was a bit of a rough landing." Please proceed to the nearest exit. Please proceed to the nearest exit. Please proceed to the nearest exit. Please proceed to the nearest exit. "I think we should proceed to the nearest exit," he said. "Maybe we can make our own." Roland kicked in a locked door nearby. He entered a spacious office with a large picture window dominating the south side. Cracks were already starting to form in the safety glass, but it would be hard to break through with a kick or small arms, as modern windows were designed to resist high impacts. "Nancy Nox, three of us are in the south side office, seventh level. Stand by at this location to pick us up!" He loaded his shotgun with a high explosive incendiary shell. "You might want to stand back. Firing a double-barreled blast at the window, it shattered with a massive explosion of shards that fell to the ground below in a spectacular glittering shower. "I suppose I could've just asked you to do more or less the same thing," he quipped in Pepper's direction. |

7/16/09 Janet had guided Nancy Nox evening up the ship's cargo ramp to the broken out windows. Pepper carried over Mary and headed directly to the cargo medical bay. Unseen and not far behind were Barto and Roland. Barto stopped on the ramp, reached out a hand. His magical 'Eye of Agamotto' that Clare had been employing against the demon rose like rocket from the water and stopped on command in his hand. The unanswered question from Pepper moments ago, "Do you know if it worked? Did you get the thing before it got out of range?" "It would appear not." He walked on, eyes and brow narrowed and showing worry. He walked quickly to the medical bay. Once there, he helped Pepper get Mary on the exam/surgical table. He ripped open the front of her clothing and laid his magical amulet over her hearth. "Nizanduka omitigranti." The amulate gave off the faintest of glows. "It's alright, merely a magical incantation to maginfy her injuries." Already the flow of blood lessoned as Mary's body was able to respond without the inhibiting curse. - - - Below the sea another battle was fought... Melody found the demon. Ten meters above the surface of the ocean Janet held the Nox steady. "Nobby? Be ready to go." The ship had taken damage. "We are able to go right?" |

7/16/09 Roland gave his shotgun a full load of slugs shortly after seeing Pepper and Mary onto the Nox. Still running on adrenaline, he did not leave Mary's side until he was sure she was in good hands. "Janet," he said over the comlink. "Do you have a fix on Clare's position?" He moved into the cargo bay and lowered the access doors. Peering into the see, he tried to make out Clare's position in the rolling waves, but the water was dark and murky. "Clare, this is Roland!" he said, trying to zero in on her comlink frequency. "Please acknowledge." |

7/18/09 There was no reply from Clare. "Looking." Janet replied, "Should be .... got em, about ten meters off the ramp." Anyone getting to the cargo deck would see three bodies under the water thrashing about. It is not possible to make out who is who. Except for the distinguishable glitter of the sword of Seamus... In the medial bay Bartolomeo tends quickly to injuries. He runs some blood into Mary from a bag mark V-II; though he seems to think his magikal talisman did the trick. "Anyone else poisoned? or cursed?" He held the ruby jewelry up to everyone in the bay; seemed satisfied that no one was stricken in any particular manner. ((Ian's post here on the underwater scene... so no one should jump in and get to them just yet.)) |

7/23/09 Mary lurched into consciousness, taking in a ragged breath and not being able to exhale. She was in pain, the kind that made every cell inside you feel like it was on fire. She screamed as she pushed herself up enough to look down at her wound. Amazingly, it had healed enough to make it look like a day had passed since she was injured. She forced the air out of her lungs and took in another breath as the pain she felt continued. She caught Bartolomeo watching her intensely. She let another scream out then looked down at the wound again. It looked like another day or two had passed. It actually didn't look like much more than a scratch. Something was not right. Mary looked over at Bartolomeo. "What have... you... done?" she asked through clenched teeth. |

7/23/09 "I'm sorry Mary, I should have asked permission." It sounded like the mere suggestion of ever doing that was actually something quite foreign. He'd never thought of asking permission, merely that he should have. "The attack on you was of some demonic or magical nature. Which could lead to all sort of secondary difficulties. The blood I've used is a hybrid of you blood type, a synthetic healing mixture quite common for surgeries and an extraction of Clare's." And that was all matter of fact, as though explaining in a lecture hall. His eyes though displayed a caring, yet intense search of her vital signs and telemetry outputs. There were not dings or noise, the quite tiny screen with lines and arcs moving across them blinked just next to a stream of numbers flying across the lower portions of each screen. He pulled off the protective synthetic blue gloves he had used during the procedure. "It's looking very good. I would have given you something for the pain, but the worst of it should be over before it would have had much affect. And then you'd be quite groggy." Then distracted. As though the medical aspects were concluded he had little banter left. But also suddenly something more. He half stumbled back and braced himself against a narrow counter. "Clare." he muttered as though someone had just punched him in the gut. |

7/24/09 "I'm sorry Mary, I should have asked permission. The attack on you was of some demonic or magical nature. Which could lead to all sort of secondary difficulties. The blood I've used is a hybrid of you blood type, a synthetic healing mixture quite common for surgeries and an extraction of Clare's." "Clare's?" Mary exclaimed. "You gave me Clare's blood? She's a vampire!" She sat up all the way and swung her feet to the side to get down. She screamed out in pain again, her fingers white knuckling the edge of the bed. "It's looking very good. I would have given you something for the pain, but the worst of it should be over before it would have had much affect. And then you'd be quite groggy." "Should be over?" Mary slid off the bed and hit the floor a little harder than she wanted. She was about to say something else to Barto when he uttered Clare's name. Mary made a couple of steps towards the door when she gripped the end of the table. She held on, half doubled over as she looked into Pepper's face. "Where is she? Did she get the demon?" And then she screamed again as the intense pain coursed through her body. |

7/24/09 "Where is she? Did she get the demon?" And then Mary screamed again as the intense pain coursed through her body. Bartolomeo had moved a couple of steps to exit the med bay, but stopped next to Mary. He steadied her with both hands on her upper arms and guided her back onto the medical bed. "It's perfectly safe, tested and trialed. The lingering side affects are all on the positive side." Then he again seemed distracted and began walking toward the door, "Though that is a purely subjective assessment on my part," he then exited and headed to the cargo deck. - - - From the ramp and cargo deck near by a demon can be seen just beneath the waves. Dark smokey matter just under the surface, which then burned like fire, much as it had done when Melody had killed the demon at the temple. Then two bodies bobbled at the surface. One held another, and reached up with a hand. Grabbed and pulled up. It was Melody, sword sheathed, and holding onto a slumped Clare. The two of them were pulled onto the ramp and up into Nancy Nox. The ramp closed. "We're getting out of here." Called Janet on the Com and the ship shifted slightly as it turned and headed straight up. Melody stood, though clearly exausted. Clare moved on the floor, some blood; and a would on her upper back. She rolled over and groaned, her half naked body showed a clear would from a sword. Through her chest a slash. The obvious answer confiremed by Melody who explained. Clare had been possessed by the demon, and Melody had exorcised it with the Sword of Seamus. Bartolomeo Columbo entered the cargo deck, "Clare?" he called out, not quite able to see past the others. ==== "Knobby Knob?" Commed Janet. "We're going to clear Atmo and then hard burn for just about three seconds okie?" Then I'm gonna put down on that thar moon and we'll shut er down." |

7/24/09 As Bartolomeo touched her shoulders, Mary shuddered and a whole other feeling coursed through her body. Intense arousal. As Bartolomeo helped her back onto the bed, she found herself looking into his eyes with a fevered want for him to kiss her and touch her and make love to her right there. "It's perfectly safe, tested and trialed. The lingering side affects are all on the positive side. Though that is a purely subjective assessment on my part." Then he left and Mary felt herself aching to be with him and thoroughly disappointed that he had left. What in the Hell was that? she asked herself. Definitely unsettled by what was going on, she wanted to get out of there. She needed to consult the Codex. She slid herself off the bed again and staggered out of the infirmary as the intense pain she felt right before Bartolomeo had touched her returned. She whimpered as her legs buckled and she slid into a seated position on the floor. Looking up, she saw Denns standing not 15 feet from her and she knew she needed help to get back to her room. "Denns, help me!" she called out to him. "I need to get back to my room again... please!" Then the realization that the labor was over hit her and she braced herself as her blind sight faded and the growing headache that came with it set her brain on fire. She screamed, her body revealing the complete agony she was feeling, and crumpled to the floor. "Codex... Please..." she begged softly, hoping that Denns heard her. |

7/27/09 Roland looked at Clare's body on the floor, a sword thrust cleanly through her. At that moment he did not think, but immediately reached down to pick her up and drape her over his shoulder. "We've got an injured crew member here," said Roland. "We've got to get her to the infirmary!" In truth Roland did not know if Clare was alive or dead. While it was true that Clare could regenerate wounds, he was not sure how an exorcism would have affected her vampire regeneration. "Clare, if you can hear me I'm taking you to the infirmary where you'll need to lay for just a bit. While your body may be able to heal itself I know nothing of what happened to your mind." |
