10/19/09 Gov'ner of Tortuga Fedora had figured to eliminate an old enemy, instead it was all going sour. But she'd known it would be a tough move. Oh well,... Fedora dove away from the now possessed Shatterhand, a small pistol pulled to shoot at him. Shatterhand, possessed, wave an arm and Fedora left her feet. The shot went wide toward the table of Nancy Nox. Shatterhand lept at her landing on the table on the platform. Roland was nearby, just at the top of the platform stairs. The imprisoned woman and 'the handler' went down. The woman in a daze already, the handler without a clue as to what he had just seen. At the shout of Shatterhand to 'kill', his Pirana crew had pulled hand held weapons and opened up on the large crew of Bubing and his Red Hand. Belit, near the Nancy Nox and been about to race to rejoin her crew when the stray bullet of Shatterhand hit her square in the temple. She was dead before she hit the floor. The Townfolk and Ranger raced to the kitchen. Pellucidar and Scarecrow to the Entry Hall, the moved careful and seemed to have each other's backs. The Burning life ducked under their table. Anarchy ran to their door to the apartment above (#2). And the guards just opened fire. At first over the heads in the crowded room, but as the violence suddenly escalated to deadly at all quarters, they angled their fire into the center of the hall. |

10/19/09 Mary saw Belit fall to the floor. The complete absence of emotion in the woman alerted her to the fact that she was dead. But she had a sword. One like Melody's. She was sure something like that probably shouldn't be picked up by someone aligned with a demon, so with unnatural speed, she dove across the floor and her hand closed around the sword. Now that she had it, what should she do with it? |

10/20/09 All of them. The thought rippled through Pepper even as the chaos unfolded. All of them. She ignored the newcomers, her Captain, that fool of a blind woman, and stepped onto the table, lifting her hands above her. All of them. And one of them would have her answers. She smiled as a wave of heat wrapped around her body and instantly charred the wood under her feet. Those closest would risk instant sunburn if they didn't move, their hair losing moisture and becoming frizzy even before the heat touched their skin. It billowed for a moment, threatening to turn into flame, but Pepper reigned it in and kept it spinning around her, up and out. A tiny part of that focus went to her clothes twitching in the heat haze, but not being allowed to burn. Her flimsy plastic bracelet sliding up her raised arm instead of down, defying gravity. This unnatural and almost invisible barrier spiralling around her body was enough to buffet most things aside and melt almost everything else. It would keep her safe enough unless someone took perfect aim at her with something high callibre. The rest of the heat was driven upwards, into the cave ceiling, centering on the spot just above the Demon. It would only take a few minutes of Pepper focussing her new found resolve to melt the rock above the demon and bring the superheated sludge tumbling down on the thing. And hopefully it would be too busy to realise what was happening until it was done. But it didn't matter too much. If it side stepped, Pepper would simply send the heat skimming beneath the rock, over everyone's heads and melt the edges of the metal doors. Her vision in Mary's enforced sleep had given her a taste. She wanted more. It was right, a part of her, that she should have more. And one of these Demons would tell her. If not the one she trapped in here, then she'd simply find a new way to trap the next and ask it the same questions. She do it again and again until she found what she wanted. The idea that a great number of people would be trapped as well didn't even enter her head. She'd seen too much in her time locked away in her own memories and she'd known it was right. She'd felt nothing but right as she'd wandered the corridor and seen some of the possibilities. Yes, it had been right. She'd felt calm. So content and so calm all through it. This was just an extension of that. She still felt nothing wrong with taking these steps. Everything she did from now on was aimed at Pepper getting herself closer to those posibilities. It hadn't occurred to Pepper, as it had seemingly never occurred to Mary, that sometimes, the only thing that tells you something isn't right is that niggling little feeling inside your gut. And that if that goes away, there's nothing to stop you seeing everything, even, say, the death of a room full of people, as right. How could it be wrong if you feel so calm about it? Pepper put more will into it and the stone started slumping downwards. |

10/20/09 Fedora screamed for help as the Demon-Shatterhand plunged a hand into her stomach; a hail of bullets from her guards and trusted mate Freeze cause the demon host to shutters. Mullin and Luke were torn for a moment, but they saw their former crew get through the door to the entry hall. Then they were attacked by the nearby crew of the Anarchy, there seemed to be no real reason for it, they just seemed to be in the way. Roland head the voice of ownership, 'they are coming yes... for the demon below, where you are, it knows the path... to the ship, to the gate... ' There was a hesitation, as though a suggestion that they let it get away was coming, as if they'd be able to do that. Instead, a lecture came, it seemed long and derisive, but it was short in words, 'you are not alone - lead.' A keen set of eyes fell on the bracelet, as hellfire came from the woman, it was the bracelet that was noticed. Like one adopted mother had, one that had been theirs. And the woman that burned had one. She wore it. The falling crumbling melting rock fell on Demon-Shatterhand, the body crushed, covered. Few remained in the hall now, the heat and fire had driven them off. Mary held a sword, she could see it clearly, and something in the caved in rock. All else was black, a complete absence of any vision or sense. Then the demon smoke slithered through a crack of the rubble. It slithered to the ceiling, then to the door, which was suddenly sealed with intense heat. The smoke turned and like a hurricane flew to the kitchen where a second later screams were heard. To Mary the dark smoke was all she could see, and like the sword, it seemed as some sort of negative of vision. A sword, and the demon in smoke form. A good and and evil. There wasn't anything else. Melody lept across a table, her sword waving overhead, and ran to the kitchen, more screams and a crashing of pots and pans and furniture and limp dead bodies could be hear. ________________________________________ ________________________________________ In the Hall of Jolly Roger: Entering the kitchen: Melody, At their table: Mary, Pepper, Luke, Mullin On the raised platform: Roland On the Ship: Denns, Janet, Majordomo, Curly. Luke
|
10/20/09 Luke was reading a book. Chaos was breaking out around him, and he was stuck flicking haphazardly through the pages of a gorram book! A bullet whizzed past him; he flinched and covered his head with his hands, just in time to realise it had come nowhere near him, but had hit one of the women with the swords in the temple. Luke's eyes went wide, momentarily bewildered by the sight as she hit the floor, dead. Then one of the girls got up on the table. Luke jumped to action, under the impression she had lost her mind in the panic, or perhaps she was saying some kind of ritual prayer like the other girl had. As he reached up to her, he felt the intense heat and pulled his arm back in shock. Eyes still wide, he stepped backwards a few steps, getting clear out of the way of whatever this girl was about to do. "Look out!" came a sudden shout from Adriana Lucy. But Luke had already seen it - coming at him was a big dude from the crew of Anarchy. The guy swung high and hard, probably expecting to put the skinny kid on his pi-goh with one hit. But Luke was in no mood for that. He ducked quickly, and then decided to put Roland's book to much better use - he gripped it tight in both hands and swung, hard, to the side of the big dude's head. The big dude went down like a tonne of bricks, and Luke grinned, cock-sure he had downed the man for good. Luke pulled at the lapel of his leather jacket with one hand and tossed his head, a very pleased with himself grin on his face. A grin which promptly disappeared as the big dude got to his feet with surprising agility, and wore an expression that was no longer concerned with getting out of the pirate hall, but wanted nothing more than beating the go-se out of Luke. Luke gave him a half-grimace half-grin, a look that almost seemed apologetic but was really just cocky. He tossed the book carelessly aside; he didn't notice as it landed on the table near Pepper's wall of heat, where its edges were quickly burnt and charred. Luke shifted his stance, moving his right leg back a little and pulling up his fists in an amateur boxing position. The big dude threw a punch, Luke dodged, he threw another, Luke ducked, another, Luke bobbed and weaved and the more the big dude missed the angrier he got and the bigger Luke's grin became. "Come on man," Luke started to trash-talk with a pretty-boy grin to die for, "You gonna hit me or are we ju-ungh!" The big dude had landed a swift jab right to the bridge of Luke's nose and blood spurted everywhere. "Fuck!" Luke exclaimed, exasperated, as he staggered backwards and his hands flew to his nose. Feeling that it was just bloodied and not broken, Luke looked up at the big dude coming in for another, gave him one look of incredulous anger and then dashed forward, leaping from his feet to tackle the big dude with a shoulder to his gut. Luke had managed to take the big dude by surprise, and he lost his footing, falling backwards to the floor with Luke landing on top. The big dude cracked his skull on the floor as he fell, but Luke didn't notice or didn't care that he was out cold. Luke grabbed his head and started pounding, breaking the big dude's face in a couple places. "Luke! Stop! Stop it!" Adriana Lucy screamed, appalled at the violence and how much Luke seemed to be enjoying it. He dropped the big dude's head and stood up, shaking his hand- he'd hurt it on the big dude's face. Luke gave the unconscious man on the ground a flick of his head, and turned away. He saw the big clump of molten rock where the demon used to be, and then looked over at the girl stood up on the table. Had she controlled her heat enough to melt the ceiling? That was impressive. It was then that he noticed where he had thrown his new Captain's book. "Aw shit." |

| Roland de Bordeaux | Sep 23 2012, 04:19 AM Post #81 |

10/21/09 Roland fired a slug into an attacker who trained a gun on Luke. The shot went wild as the man's chest exploded in a mist of blood. Another attacker approached Roland as he stood on the platform, holding wicked serrated knife. The man unleashed a combo of clumsy attacks, easily dodged by Roland. Roland deftly dodged the man's attacks and then brought up his own blade which severed the man's knife arm at the elbow. Screaming in horror, his mouth was met by a hard roundhouse kick that knocked out teeth and sent him hurling across the room. Leaping off the podium, another attacker came at Roland. *Why do they always come at me one at at a time?* Roland wondered as he dodged the man's blows. He caught a roundhouse kick in a counter-move and deftly dropped his weight on the vulnerable knee-joint, shattering the attackers knee. Finishing off with a blow to the face, Roland tossed the man's broken body aside. Another screaming man came at Roland with a machete. Roland barely paid him an heed as he reached out and grabbed the man's throat, tearing it out. It was then that he saw his book fly through the air and into the heat aura around Pepper. He unleashed a string of expletives as he saw the book disintegrate. "That was a ruttin' FIRST PRINTING!" he swore as he delivered a massive kick from his steel-toed boot at the head of the big man that Luke had put down. He pulled out his cigarette case and retrieved a single smoke, reaching out to the aura around Pepper and lighting it. Putting it in his mouth he held loaded more slugs into his shotgun. "Mary, do you see the demon anywhere?" Suddenly, he turned to her sheepishly. "Sorry Mary, poor choice of words." |

10/21/09 In just a few minutes the great hall had nearly emptied, at least of the living and well. Moans and agony could be heard, those shot by the maniac guards of Gov'ner Captain Fedora, now buried under the fading red hot rock at the platform. Embers burned around those rocks, wind pulled from deep in the underground so that the smoke and heat were drawn up through the burned away doors on the platform. Everyone felt as though they were about to scorch from the heat. Melody screamed scream and cursed in the kitchen. A body came rushing from it, then fell bloody and near dead. Half of the crews had fled, half had reacted by fighting whatever was close by. ________________________________________ In the Hall of Jolly Roger: In the kitchen: Melody, At their table: Mary, Pepper, Luke, Mullin, Roland On the Ship: Denns, Janet, Majordomo, Curly. 10/23/09 Pepper scowled at the way the Demon seemingly kept body hopping. She made sure the exits that could melt did melt, then hopped off her table and looked for Melody. She came down next to one of the new guys. He seemed to be holding his own quite well, though the Captain was already ranting at him for something. She sneered a little at Roland. "It's barely even crisped, most of my heat was going up. And besides, if there's a passage in that thing that's good enough to help in this situation, I'll eat the thing with maple syrup." Then she heard Melody scream from somewhere in the kitchen and a body came running out. Pepper moved warily over to it on her way to the kitchen, unable to tell if it was the Demon or not. "If one of you go se eating hwoon dahns kills my Demon before I get my info, you're all crispy fried." She half growled under her breath, low enough that it was likely only Luke would hear her. It was only half meant though. For the moment. "Melody?" She called into the kitchen. "Who's it in?" |

Luke
|
10/23/09
Luke heard Roland's outburst and inwardly winced, but he pretended to ignore him. The heat in the room now was overwhelming, and Luke roughly pulled his leather jacket off, tossing it unceremoniously over to where his duffel and guitar case were left at the Pellucidar table. In his short-sleeved red t-shirt he looked even smaller than he had with the heavy jacket, but he was still eager for more action. He stopped to pull the bottom of his shirt up to his face, wiping off the blood from his nose, momentarily revealing a surprisingly well defined abdomen.
Luke cracked a grin at that, and looked over at the fiery girl. Hot. He hadn't really been paying attention to what or where or who the demon was. He didn't really care. He just wanted something to fight, he was good at it. At least he thought he was good at it. Hearing the scream from the kitchen he figured that was where the real action was. He grabbed his shotgun, and took a leap onto the nearest table. Walking along it towards the kitchen he loaded the shotgun with salt rounds, so as not to anger the hot girl. He stepped down onto the benches and climbed over the next table. Standing on what had been the workers' table before the commotion, he planted his feet firmly and peered down the barrel of his shotgun through the kitchen doorway, waiting to see what would emerge next. |

10/23/09 Pepper entered the kitchen. Melody is there, one hand on her sword; the other held up warning frightened people to stay down. Which isn't a problem, the workers and a few pirates are cowered in the west/left wall. In response to Pepper's query Melody motioned towards the next room and headed through it. Luke followed into the kitchen. ( more below ) (did someone scoop up Roland's book?) Office: Melody In the kitchen: Pepper, Luke At their table: Mary, Mullin, Roland On the Ship: Denns, Janet, Majordomo, Curly. Other pirates, about, scattered As the other followed into the office, Melody is there. Holding the sword out in front of her. She stopped in front of the open door leading up in the northwest/upper right. "It's leading us... there are ... " She pointed the sword at an angle up. "... others waiting for us above." Mary could no longer see the demon. But the sword she could see clearly. Everything else was darkness. The power in it blocked her sight from all else, she was blind otherwise. Mullin was close to her, Roland as well. (going to give some time for everyone to 'catch up'... or not... ) |

10/23/09 "Mary, do you see the demon anywhere? Sorry Mary, poor choice of words." Mary didn't even give the last part a second thought. "It's heading for the kitchen," she reported. She dropped her staff, instead opting for the sword as a weapon. She gripped the handle of the sword firmly and followed the demon into the kitchen. The other members of the crew had already headed there or where now following her. Once they got into the office area, she heard Melody speak. "It's leading us... there are ... others waiting for us above." They were close and the sword shone brightly in Mary's world of blind sightedness. So brightly though that it was the only thing she could see. "Rutting Hell," she whispered. "Not again." |

10/24/09 Mullin had ducked behind the table at the first signs of a fracas. Fighting big bad nasties he was okay with. Fighting people...not so much. They usually didn't react so well to rock salt or holy water, and by reacting well, he meant poorly. He didn't mind a bar brawl, but a bar brawl with pirates was pushing it. Plus it had gotten really hot. One of the girls on the Nox's crew had hopped up on the table they had been sitting around, and she seemed to be the source of heat. So that was what the other girl had meant when she said "they're like us." Evidently he and Luke wouldn't be the only people on the Nox with powers. That was when he noticed her bracelet... It wasn't like it was a totally abnormal looking bracelet. Hell, he'd seen another like it, and that was the problem; his mom had one just like it, but seeing it on this girl triggered some memory that was totally unrelated to his parents. Something about space...and that threw him for a loop. Enough of a loop that he didn't notice someone behind him's backswing with a chair. After a clip on the side of the head, he went down, not knocked out, but dazed momentarily. The combination of getting hit in the head with a chair and the flood of memories from the bracelet took him out of the fight for a moment too long to notice much of what had transpired, before he started picking himself up from behind the table. Just in time for him to see the crew heading towards the kitchen. He followed. Walked up alongside Mary as she muttered something about "not again." "How humped are we?" he asked her. |

10/25/09
"How many others?" Pepper snapped. If the single Demon had met up with the group of Demons it was going to be a little harder to get what she wanted. "Can we cut it off? Is there any chance of getting to it before it has its little family reunion?" And how the hell are we going to fight a whole pack of Demons in a closed off place like this rabbit warren, she thought. "If they've all already met up, we should go a different way, circle around behind..." she mused out loud. |

Captains of The Burning Life
|
10/26/09 Mary moved slowest and at the rear. She could not see and stumbled into every possible item in her path: a knee on a table, a chin on a chair, an elbow on the side of the doorway. But everyone made it to the office. Someone had tipped the desk, a few cabinets had been rifled. Even fearing for their lives a pirate took a delay to try and steal something. Melody nodded at Pepper's idea. Melody indicated that the one they had chased was now with others. Above. That's when the two women entered from the entry way... "hey." one said. Someone's shooting at us if we try to get out... stupid Anarchy peeps" "ya mean creeps." said the other woman And they do confirm, the way up to the big main hall building is clear, except the Anarcy crew is holed up there, and shooting anyone that tries to join them. "well, then, not exactleez clear... but iz a way out ain't it?" "apparently there's a lot goin's on up there" "We Captains Annabelle and Lisabelle." "of Burning Life." The other doors seem locked, but breakable, ... or burnable.... Office: Melody Pepper, Luke Mary, Mullin, Roland On the Ship: Denns, Janet, Majordomo, Curly. Other pirates, about, scattered |

10/26/09 This was definitely not the most ideal time to be completely blinded by a sword that was supposed to be of the helpful variety. A room full of demons awaited them and she was defenseless again. She couldn't stay still because there wouldn't be any escape and she wouldn't have even the slightest chance should something or someone come her way. She couldn't go back through the Great Hall to their living quarters, she would effectively be drawing a bull's eye on her with a sign above her head that said 'Kill Me Now.' So she followed her crew or at least did the best she could. It was not lost on her that this was most likely her last few minutes left in the 'Verse, but perhaps she could distract one of the demons enough so that one of her crewmates might get in a good blow. Tired of stumbling over everything and giving herself bumps and bruises before she even got to the battle, she reached out, felt for the closest person and grabbed hold. It was one of the new guys. They would of course not know of her powers... or her problems. "I need help," she said quietly to him. "Please guide me along. I can't see." Her head was starting to hurt from seeing nothing but pure, blinding light. |
