11/17/09 "I'm on my way." Answered Janet. The Firefly swooped down from the morning sun. "Alliance and them ruttin reavers came in together, couple a their captain's exchangin' coords." She'd figured the demons and led them both in. Which was a worry to have, but she left the conclusions to be said out loud to 'capn' Roland. "Helluva battle ya missed." Janet landed the ship as she talked; off the south end, blasting a tree out of the way with thrusters, shingles flew from a roof. Not the kind of landing the locals would have stood for twelve hours ago. Another ship was landing on the other side of the village. She left the ship running hot but was still at the ramp when it opened up. Nancy Nox looked in pretty good shape if there had been a battle. Janet looked totally hyped up on adreniline and pistols in both hands suggested she wouldn't mind just a little more. |

11/17/09 Annabelle and Lisabelle had scooped up Roland's discarded book of magic. "cortex huh?" Their crew helped get everyone out. They'd been helping Melody. Denns came out, so did Curly and Major Domo. Denns looks ready to shoot, kill and maim. Curly is in human form, not her Therianthropic Feline form. Majordomo appear ready to work as head waiter at the finest core restaurant. They welcome everyone on board, Majordom gets Pepper to sick bay. Curley approached Luke, "I'll help you with your friend." She extended support to help with the body of Mullin. "I'm Professor Farberer, but everyone calls me Curley." . . . Annabelle and Lisabelle linger, "So, Melody was saying, ya hunt Demons? We could help?" "Yes." says Melody, "I figure, you got another sword to direct you, best we split up." She's clearly made up her mind. "I'm goin with them." "And I follow." Says Denns. "Call it a compulsion." "Shiny." says one of the Co-Captains... "So... let's go." Cargo Ramp: Luke, Mary, Mullin, Roland, Janet, Curley Leaving: Denns, Melody - NPCs: Anna and Lisa Sick Bay: Majordomo and Pepper |

11/19/09 The thought registered in Luke's mind that Curley was a bit of a fox, but with all the horror around them and what he'd just been through, he wasn't thinking enough to really care. In this moment, he was just grateful for her offer to help with Mullin. He nodded to her once appreciatively and then responded to her introduction simply, "Luke. I'm new. Mechanic." He walked into the cargo bay, and dumped his stuff there for now, until he was assigned a bunk. "Professor," he asked as an afterthought, "Of what?" |

11/20/09 JUST ARRIVED: "Microbiology." Farberer answered. She seemed polite, formal, but Luke could have sworn he heard a slight purr just before she looked away. ________________________________________ ________________________________________ (( keeps to the chatting in the current just got on board time if you like... but I'll move us out and on the way.... Adding some things here quasi IC/OOC so we can have them worked out before the start of the next ep, which I'm setting up... )) ON THE ROAD AGAIN: - Pepper is healing well, she's sore from being tossed against the wall in the Office of the Jolly Roger. Some debate on rather she was able to permanently kill a demon with her heat and fire or if it was dispatched by Mary and the Sword. At any rate, they killed three and exorcised one. Five killed, four remain. They puruse one, Melody and Denns another. And Pepper is angry that they didn't not capture or get to question one. - Mullin's body is in state for buriel, to be dropped off and shipped to his family. - Janet confronted Roland, "So, the whole teamwork thing... how'd that go?" - Janet lookeds at Luke, a lot. Like she's a bit curious about.. him. "What? you're obviously the only male on this ship bedworthy. Just can't decide... what do you think?" - Janet treated Curley like a dog... - Janet suggested to Mary, "Maybe... when we get over... to a point." Looked at Mary's hands. "I sick of this GoSe." which is odd, considering she returned to her natural form... The Therianthropic Feline Form. "Hi Luke." She said, as she approached in the galley, "It's ok, it me. Curley." She twirled in play. Majordomo was polite and helped cook and clean. - "What next Roland? We keep hunting them down? there's something more. Something else." - Mary Galenus found that the sword worked differently for her. It shut out everything, all was black, except the sword and the tiny distant points of light that were the remaining Demon of Earth that was. They were moving about the Verse. All but one. It seemed, after a bit of turning the ship and seeing what was where.... was on Sihnon. So that's where they headed. Luke had a claim on the sword as well, after all Mary couldn't hardly use it in combat since she couldn't see anything but the sword and demon, and it shut off all her other powers... < so they agree to share it maybe? > Just jabber away while I get the next round set up |

11/20/09 "Maybe... when we get over... to a point. I'm sick of this GoSe." Mary smiled politely and nodded, knowing that Janet knew that her door was always open to someone in need. It was up to Janet though. She had to make the decision. Mary felt like the vampiric need to calm had passed and was glad. It made too much discord between her and Pepper. She turned to Luke, her head still pounding a little, but not bad enough that she needed to sit. She looked at him and he felt different. His edges were blurred, but not as bad as Roland's; Roland had lives upon lives stacked on top of him and it showed in what Mary could see. Luke's silhouette was darker than most, but it had a glow on the edges, sometimes on one side, other times on the opposite side or even just nearby. It was odd. She decided to ask him about it sometime, but she didn't want to alienate him right away by asking probing questions. She felt he was a trustworthy type, that much she gleaned quite clearly, so that was enough for now. "Luke?" she asked. "Would you like to hold the sword? See if it works for you better?" She was still applying pressure to her temple as she asked him. "Don't worry," she said calmly. "The headache always comes after a labor. It's lessened so my blindsight is working again. The pain will fade after a little time. I guess it is the price for the extra boost of clarity while out on a hunt." |

Luke
|
11/20/09 "Oh," was all Luke managed in response to Curley. He was distracted by the peculiar seductive noise she made - was she purring at him? He knew chicks digged him, but that was still kind of odd... He grinned a little half-smile to himself with a cocky flick of his head... Then he noticed the other woman... Janet.. looking at him. That caught him off guard, and he did that really pathetic looking from side to side as if checking that it was him she was looking at. "What? you're obviously the only male on this ship bedworthy. Just can't decide... what do you think?" Luke practically tripped over his feet as he took an instinctive step back. His right hand combed through his hair out of habit, pulling and ruffling it to achieve that casually mussed look. He stammered a little, laughed, and didn't manage to say a word in response. He was really expecting her to say she was messing with him. "I'm pretty beat," he eventually managed, quickly picking his stuff back up. And as he walked purposefully through the cargo bay to find himself a bunk, he gave her what he thought was a suave kind of grin, but looked more like the nervous glance of a kid. *** Having found an empty room, Luke had dumped his stuff, pulled out some fresh clothes and hit the shower. He knew that ship-board showers were supposed to be quick, but with everything he had just witnessed, he took his time. He knew he was getting into some dark go-se, and in his short time on the Pellucidar he had seen some pretty heavy stuff, but now... If the stories were true, and this really was the ship to redemption through trial, he was certainly going to be seeing a lot worse before he was done. It terrified him. The darkness was so heavy inside of him he could feel it. Demons he could fight - he had proved that again today. Vampires, ghosts, whatever - he was prepared to hunt them and fight them. It was the dark inside of him that he feared he could not fight. If they ventured into the depths of darkness as they hunted the supernatural, would he be able to see his way out again? He knew he had to try, he knew he would try, but if he tried and failed... what would that mean for Adriana Lucy? No amount of soap and water could ever clean his mind of such dark thoughts, and so he climbed out of the shower, dried off and put on a clean pair of jeans and another rock-music influenced well-fitting t-shirt. He hopped onto his new bunk, kicked the duffel bag to the floor and pulled out his guitar. Sitting with his feet stretched out on his bed, he began tuning his guitar, fully intending to hide away in his bunk until he was called upon and had to show his face. He wanted nothing more than to be alone, the melancholic urge to dwell in his own darkness surging around him like the dark clouds of a brewing storm... "You are such an emo," the voice of Adriana Lucy cut into his thoughts. He looked up to see her leaning against the opposite wall, arms crossed and her trademark teasing playful smile on her lips. Luke grinned back in spite of himself. "Thanks," he answered sarcastically. "What are you doing, Luke? A whole new crew to get to know, and you're sitting up here feeling sorry for yourself." "It's been a long day." "Don't you think it's been for them too? I told you Luke, you can't shut yourself off anymore. I won't let you." He rolled his eyes, put his guitar back in its case and sat up, pulling on his boots. "Most. Annoying. Ghost. Ever." "Oh, Luke, you ain't seen nothing yet." Luke looked up at her, a chill in the back of his mind that there was a hidden, darker meaning to that. But Adriana Lucy just pursed her lips and smiled. Luke stood to leave, and she added, "Besides, I think Janet likes you." *** Luke steeled himself as he walked through the halls, determined to enter the galley with an appropriate level of swagger and aloofness. He probably would have pulled it off too, if it hadn't been for the giant cat standing up on two legs being patted like a dog by the sex-on-the-brain pilot. Luke literally jumped backwards a step with surprise. When the cat-woman spoke, Luke's mouth hung open for a second before he recovered his composure. "Oh. Hi," and he grinned and held up a hand in a wave. So not so much a fox so much as a ... "What are you?" he blurted out before realising how rude it might sound. "I mean, sorry, you can change forms at will?" His eyebrows raised then, slowly realising just how cool that was, and already his mind was going to some very kinky places... When that little social awkwardness was smoothed over, the offer of having a go with the sword was too inviting to pass up. He listened to what Mary was saying, but didn't quite understand it. After his stellar display of tact with Curley, he figured another couldn't hurt. "So, you're blind but sometimes you can see? I'm guessing you can see more than I or anyone else can though, right?" |

11/22/09 Roland came out of his cabin unsure of how much time had passed. After the reaver slaughter he'd grown sullen but the truth was that the images burned into his mind were having a particularly troubling effect on him. He sought solace in the Nox's considerable stores of alcohol, mixing wine and rum and beer into a particularly toxic mix. He strolled out into the galley in search for something to fix the pain in his head. Janet passed him by and made an offand question about teamwork. "We're still alive I think that means something," he repulied sullenly. "We returned with more mouths to feed and our mission completed. Not sure about teamwork, but everyone seems to know how to do their jobs." He saw the one called Luke chatting with the cat woman and Mary. He gave them all a cursory nod. Doubtless Mary would be displeased with him overindulging in spirits. He *did* have responsibilities, after all. "Hullo," he said with little enthusiasm. "Please remind me never to mix wine and Osiran rum again. Glad to see you've found your way to the food," he said pulling up a chair. "Luke, you didn't tell me you brought a girl on board," he said motioning to the female form he saw behind Luke. "Why am I, the captain, always the last to know about these things? Owwwww..." He looked again and the female form was gone. Doing a double-take, he said "Ok, definitely no more Osiran rum. Unless we've been forsaken by the gods, please tell me someone made coffee." |

11/24/09 "So, you're blind but sometimes you can see? I'm guessing you can see more than I or anyone else can though, right?" Mary smiled. Luke was direct. He didn't beat around the bush. She liked that. "No, I am blind all the time," she said as pointed at her white colored eyes. "These don't work. Never have." She tapped her head next. "But this works," she continued. "I have blindsight. My mind lets me see the world around me. Mostly in the forms of shadows. Details kind of escape me when I am not on a labor. Then, everything is pretty crisp. But the drawback is that whole smashing through my skull headache after. "And I am an empath, so I feel emotions or I can sense things around the room," she went on. "But my strongest ability is that to calm. I sense unrest in people and can calm their emotions and souls to give them respite." Mary tilted her head at him, scrutinizing him a bit. "I feel great pain within you. I could help sometime, if you want. My door is always open." |

"And if that doesn't work our stores of Osirian rum can always help, albeit temporarily. Forgive me, my mood is not what it should be. Troubling times." "I don't suppose anyone's thought about our next destination yet?" |

Luke
|
11/24/09 Luke looked up as Roland entered, pegging him as hung over and possibly still inebriated. Luke clenched his jaw to keep from groaning, his dislike for the new captain growing. It was perhaps a little hypocritical, since Luke was craving a few beers himself about now to help wash down the horrors of Tortuga. He was about to just shake his head and turn away, when Roland said something about a girl - Luke spun about, looking to see if he meant Adriana Lucy. For one startling moment, Luke thought Roland could see her, which would mean she really was a ghost, which would mean her soul really was counting on him... But Adriana Lucy wasn't there, and Roland backtracked. So the captain was just a hallucinating drunk. Luke turned back to give the man a brief but derisive look, but he couldn't decide if the revelation was a relief or a worry. Luke switched his attention to Mary instead, wanting to understand her abilities. A couple things struck him. Firstly, the mention of a labour. So this was the ship that laboured for redemption. And Mary had something to labour for too. A grin flicked very briefly in the upper corner of his lips; at least he knew now he had joined the right ship. The second thing that interested Luke was the idea that she could calm his soul. His eyebrows shot upwards, intrigued by this. What exactly did it mean, to calm a soul? Did she mean it metaphorically, or could she actually do something to calm the dark beast he felt sure was raging inside him?
Luke almost jumped out of his seat and ran across the room, but he stopped himself by gripping tightly to the back of the chair. He didn't like that she could see into him, or feel into him, or whatever it was she was doing. He was afraid of what she might tell him about himself, no, even more than that, he was ashamed. He didn't want anyone to know what he had done. It was on the tip of his tongue to tell her to stay away from him, he likely would have shouted it in his flash of panic had it not been for Roland's interjection. It distracted him enough to bite his tongue. Luke rose from his chair, and casually moved a few paces away from Mary, to lean against a counter. At least, he had tried to make it look casual, he honestly didn't mean to offend anyone, but it was probably pretty obvious he wanted a physical distance between himself and Mary, in the hopes that it would cause an emotional, empathic distance too. "I wouldn't mind a bit of that," Luke said then in response to Roland's offer of rum. He chuckled a little, "Could use something after what we've been through today." Luke made himself comfortable, leaning both his elbows behind him on the counter-top and swaying slightly on his feet. "You know me, always looking for a scrap, so as long as there's something I can actually fight," he said with a grin. He took out a cigarette and paused as he brought it to his lips. Just the faintest hint of embarrassment was visible in his face as he coughed and added, "Well, you don't know me, yet, but if you did." He shrugged, still holding the half-grin. "Anyone mind if I smoke?" he asked as he brought the cigarette to his lips for the second time. |

11/28/09 Mary made Luke the offer to help him, but she sensed an immediate reaction of fear and shame, coupled with anxiety. She had scared him. He really needed to come see her so she could help him have a little peace, but he wasn't ready. He had even gone as far as to move away from her. He probably didn't want her to notice, but she did. He talked briefly to Roland and then continued nervously on. "Anyone mind if I smoke?" Mary walked to him until she stood before him again. "I'm not fond of it, but if you need it in order to calm yourself, go right ahead," she said. She brought her hand up to his, handing him the sword, but not without brushing against the bare skin of his hand. |

11/29/09
"I do," mused Roland, producing a lighter and lighting himself a cigarette. He passed the lighter and offered Luke a light. "In fact, cigarette smoke so thoroughly repulses me that I simply cannot abide it." "Living as many lifetimes as I have the whole issue of carcinogens is pretty much a moot point. Well, cancer is never fun but I usually give myself an easy way out before that does me in. Much less painful that way, and ultimately the same result." "So the question stands. We've done what we need to do and slain yet another demon. I'm not sure what you think you got into when you signed up for this ship, Luke, but the deal is rather one-sided. You get food and a bunk, but the price you pay is the inability to leave this crate, at least I think. Luke, just what the hell is that thing shimmering over your shoulder? I thought it was the lingering aftereffects of alcohol but I assure you I'm quite lucid right now." |

12/1/09 .. In conversation with Luke... Curley came back later, in feline form. Her features were much different, "It takes a bit to transform, I don't like to do it on display, but yes, I can change forms. But not at will. It takes effort, and makes me very hungry." .. She smelled him, in the feline form. "You do give off very strong pherenomes. No wonder Janet was ready to drag you to her cabin." .. "My creator became my lover. M. He created a way for therianthropes to breed, and I am one of them. A hexed DNA strand. Magic chromosones." She smiled, then frowned. "He's dead." A nod to the crew, (there or not), "They killed him. Not much of a choice really. He released the nine demons from Earth-that-was for the power to create us. The new humans." Nancy smiled again and leaned into him, her scent was obvious as well, an animal musk that suggested a strong urge to just nuzzle up in to. "In a few generations, maybe we'll be running things." It was hard to tell if she was joking as she slinked over get a plastic bottle of milk, all the while rubbing at her fur covered breasts, taking long deep breathes. Her tail just made a little bump against Luke's inner thigh as she walked away. She made no notice of it, as though it were an accident. = = = Majordomo, "Hunting the demons is pointless unless we kill them. Exorcising them just sends them back out into their demonic dimensions." Janet, "Columbo's book has a killing spell, long. Very long. I don't remember having that much time during a battle with a demon." Majordomo, "Did Pepper kill a demon with her fire? Or not?" |

12/2/09 Roland took another look behind Luke and realized that he'd simply been looking at a trick of the light. The cigarette smoke had interplayed with the light in a way that it made his tired mind see things, or so he surmised. He shook his head and took a long drag. "Maybe I'm not as lucid as I thought. Don't they say that when you start seeing things you should relinquish command? Maybe that's a way off this ship. A technicality true, but it's not like anyone else is volunteering." He got up and took a glass from the cupboard. He took it to the refrigerator and produced two eggs, a bottle of worcester sauce, a can of kayanne pepper and a single celery. He methodically mixed the concoction together into something that was altogether bizarre and foul-smelling. "Here it goes," he said as he drank it in one fell swoop. He grimaced as the fluid entered his weary body and shook for a moment. "Damn that was good. A prarie oyester. Surest cure for a hangover outside of a bullet to the skull." His cortex reader flashed and buzzed. "Oh please not now..." He looked at it and sighed, "Our benefactor wants to see me. Must be about our next assignment. Yes, the fun never stops on the Nancy Nox." |

12/2/09
Luke chuckled humourlessly. He figured Roland was joking, but he wasn't really sure. He hesitated, not sure if he was supposed to smoke or not smoke, until Roland offered him a light. He took it with an unsure nod or gratitude. Mary reached up and gave him the sword then. As her hand brushed against his she would have felt how cold his skin was. He didn't notice if she noticed, instead he began playing with the sword, cigarette resting precariously in his lips. "Heh," he grinned as he did a few practice slashes, "This is pretty cool. Feels powerful." He was like a kid with a new toy.
Luke's brow furrowed - no one had mentioned to him that once he joined the ship he couldn't leave. He should have known that there was some kind of catch. He probably should have asked a few more questions, but there wasn't really time what with the demons and all... And then Roland mentioned something over his shoulder. Luke spun around to look, coming extremely close to decapitating both Roland and Mary with the sword. He didn't even notice.
That was at least the second time Roland had seen something on or near Luke that wasn't there. He looked across the room now to Adriana Lucy, raising an eyebrow asking if it was something to do with her. Adriana Lucy just shrugged, and tried to look innocent. Luke was kind of glad when Roland had to excuse himself. He found the Captain very odd. And what had he said about living many lifetimes? Weird. Definitely weird.
"Fun, right," Luke said without enthusiasm between drags of his cigarette. Then he shrugged, "I suppose if I get to play with some demons with this thing," he waved the sword dangerously close to Mary's face again, "Might be kinda fun." He laughed, completely oblivious to how close he was coming to doing some serious damage with the sword... *** |
