Reno and Thalia's Hiding Spot He was a bit upset at the change of plans after what Thalia had told him, but he had a feeling something like that would come up. It took him a bit of time to for it to fade as he watched the feed coming from Flight Deck D3. That lapse of anger didn't last long as he spotted the Commander of the Albright and his goons making an entrance and approaching both Sergei and Skyelar. "Motherrutting Hell..." growled Reno under his breath, at the small screen in front of him. He could smell Thalia's scent in the tight confines of the hiding place and with her body's close proximity to his, she felt very warm. Shaking the thoughts that were entering his head out, Reno tapped into Sergei's earpiece and whispered calmly, "Big Guy, I know you want to punch our dear Commander's head into his rectum, but for the sake of Amber and Ari, please refrain from doing so. Well.. at least at this moment. The guy in the suit is our Advocate from what Thalia tells me. He's the girls' ticket out of here. Just let Mr. Lars do the talking and help him out only if you need to. Cough if you understand." |

Detention Center "Hell yes. Definitely shore leave and breakfast in bed. Massages too, for sure. Hey, maybe we can get the boys to spring for a personal masseuse... one for you, one for me" Amber replied, managing a grin and brief chuckle. They were good thoughts, but realistically unlikely to happen. Still, it helped serve as a much needed distraction. Did she do what? Ari had said... dancing right? Yes, that seemed right to her. Or maybe Ari had said prance. Amber wasn't sure she pranced, but she did dance. "Yeah, I dance. Belly dancing. It's a big part of my act. That, and playing with balls" she answered. The last comment made her giggle a bit hysterically. "I mean the glass kind used for contact juggling" she clarified. Ari's gasping made her sit up with a concerned expression. Her own head swam with the rush of it and she had to lay back down. This couldn't be good. She felt like she was high or something, except a lot worse. When her head cleared as much as was possible at the moment, she tried to move her legs. They responded, but slowly. Instead, she rolled out of the bed and landed heavily on the floor. Amber managed to slither a foot or two by the time Ari finished heaving. When she saw Ari sit down, she stopped moving too. "Let's hope they get here soon. I don't know how much longer I'm going to last" she replied candidly. At some point, she had even caved enough to take off her shoes and socks. Stubbornly, her pants and shirt were staying on though. Which probably contributed to her current condition. Whether she was willing to do so now or not was a moot point. By this time she was too weak to strip down to her underwear even if she wanted to. She tried to roll over onto her back but it was a feeble and failed attempt. Instead she just laid there, her breathing shallow, one cheek pressed against the floor, and her hands half outstretched. |

IAV Albright - Flight Deck D3 Lars had cleaned up, and looked quite formal, following behind Sergei. He waited for somebody to approach Sergei, so he wouldn't make a fool of himself approaching the wrong person. He then stepped around the big guy and extended his hand, interrupting speculation as to the legitimacy of their presence. "I expect you're who I need to see about getting my ship back. Not to mention fill me in as to why she was impounded to begin with." he stated curtly, expressing his agitation at the inconvenience, but not yet ready to start a commotion. He tried to seem cooperative if somebody was willing to work with him. Everybody benefited if he could accomplish this goal without making a big fuss. He strained to hear his response over the sound of blood rushing through his ears as his heart raced. |

IAV Albright - Flight Deck D3 Sergei waited for an answer on the party crasher. They guy just looked too... smooth. The one thing that immediately bothered him was the fact that Murch didn't seem to know either. How was that possible? Shouldn't the man have an idea when someone who looks that high profile is on their ship? Or is the place just a little too big for him to know that? Or is the man completely incompetant? The last option was disconcerting as well. If he didn't know about his non-military visitors, then how could he be paying attention to the special guests that weighed heavily on Sergei's mind? He watched as Murch dispatched someone to ascertain who the man was then become increasingly anxious to see who it was that would be coming out of the Entertainer. He almost seemed to be more interested in them than someone who miraculously slipped aboard an Alliance ship this big. His hands flexed into fists. He wanted to pound the Commander, but knew it would not help their cause. Luckily, the answer came to him from Reno of all people. "Big Guy, I know you want to punch our dear Commander's head into his rectum, but for the sake of Amber and Ari, please refrain from doing so. Oh... Reno knew him so well. "The guy in the suit is our Advocate from what Thalia tells me. He's the girls' ticket out of here. Just let Mr. Lars do the talking and help him out only if you need to. Cough if you understand." Sergei slowly brought his hand up to his mouth and coughed twice before relaxing a bit. About that time, Skyelar appeared, looking the part of a rich guy who leased the ship to some carnies. "I expect you're who I need to see about getting my ship back. Not to mention fill me in as to why she was impounded to begin with." The corner of Sergei's mouth turn up just a little. The young man actually sounded the part. That was quite unexpected. Now he could return to glaring at the Commander. He couldn't punch him, but he could definitely do the intimidation thing. Sure they were on the man's ship and it probably wouldn't work, but it made him feel marginally better. |

IAV Albright - Flight Deck D3 As things began to play out, the Advocate rolled his eyes. He was slightly annoyed that the Commander sent some underling to figure out who he was. He then began to stride forward to meet them. The guard stopped in front of his and started his questioning. "Sir, may I ask for your ident card?" The Advocate snorted at him, before effortlessly grabbing the guy's arm and twisting it until it popped. The soldier screamed out in pain, but the Advocate just kept walking towards the group assembled in front of the Entertainer. As he got near, he assessed the group. The Commander and his group of soldiers were easy to figure out. The big one was the strong man from the Gypsy Traveler. How he managed to get onto the Entertainer was impressive. Then there was the young man who came out of the ship. The ship owner. He was a new variable. The Advocate was unsure of his indentity. Interesting, he thought with a smile. That was one thing that the Advocate had a shortage of. It had been a long while since something surprised him. When he arrived he turned to the Commander. "I am here for the two women, Ariel Duquesne and Amber Kynes," he announced ever so confidently. "I believe they have been detained here for quite some time without representation. You will take me to them." He narrowed his eyes at the Commander and invaded his personal space a bit. "Now." At the same time, he handed the man to the Commander's left his ident card. |

IAV Albright - Flight Deck D3 Commander Murch's eyebrow cocked a bit, when a young man exited the Entertainer. He looked barely old enough to vote. And he was rather scrawny. "I expect you're who I need to see about getting my ship back. Not to mention fill me in as to why she was impounded to begin with." He mentally went through all the folks who he encountered on the Gypsy Traveler before. This man was not one of them. There was a good chance that he was indeed the owner of the vessel. Though he wondered why that didn't come up when they did the initial inquiry about the ship before boarding it near Kerry. Maybe it was a new acquisition? "Ident card please?" Commander Murch requested without much courtesy beyond the word 'please'. He also motioned two guards forward to take the strong man into custody. He was interrupted by the arrival of the mysterious man. "I am here for the two women, Ariel Duquesne and Amber Kynes," "I believe they have been detained here for quite some time without representation. You will take me to them." Well now... This guy had balls. He was about to ask for his ident card too, but the guy beat him to the punch as he freely handed it over. "Now." The Comander narrowed his eyes in anger as well as the guy had the gall to step into his personal space. What nerve... On his own ship and everything. "Step back now or you will find yourself in the brig for assaulting an Alliance officer-" Murch began to threaten, but the soldier with the ident card reader frantically attracted his attention. He was annoyed by being interrupted."WHAT?" The soldier showed him the reader and he paled just a little and stood up straight as if a commanding officer had addressed him. A high ranking commanding officer. "Yes, sir... Right away sir," he acquiesced, his tone clipped significantly. But he did manage to give out an order. "Detain the big man in the brig. I recognize him from our last visit to the Gypsy Traveler. He will need to be questioned." He looked at Skyelar. "Him too, until we can ascertain and verify your identity," he said as well. He wasn't in the mood to deal with the Advocate and them. After all, in comparison, they were but small blips on the radar. "This way, Mr. Advocate, Sir." With that, he turned and headed for the Detention Center. His stomach felt just a little quesy. |

Detention Center It was cold again now. Ari couldn't do anything but shiver uncontrollably. She knew one thing. She was going to die soon. What a way to go out. She always imagined dying during one of their jobs, going down fighting against some Alliance bastards. She even imagined dying during a performace. Like doing some incredibly complex move on her silks and having everything go sideways. That would have been acceptable. Lastly, she was even good with the idea of going out on her own terms. Of finally joining her parents in death. Dying this way was not on his list of acceptable options. Plus there was the fact that she felt guilty. Guilty because Amber got caught up in all of this. "Am... Amb... Amber?" she ground out, speaking was difficult while shivering so badly, plus she was just plain exhausted. "I... I'm... s... sor... sorry." After that, darkness claimed her. |

Reno and Thalia's Hidey Hole Reno smiled as he heard Sergei cough twice to his request. At least he knew that the comms were working and that the strongman understood him. He was impressed with Skyelar as he watched the man perform his role rather well. What with being the new guy and all. The icing on the cake though had to be Commander Murch's reaction to when he was shown the Advocate's ID. The man looked as pale as a ghost and his tail must've not only tucked itself between his legs, but hid itself deep within his pigu. He wondered if Murch was going to have to pay the ship's medical bay a visit to get it removed. Once he watched the Commander lead them towards the Detention Center, Reno commed Darren and asked, "How are we doing with the Traveler, greasemonkey? How much damage are you seeing and did you figure out what they're using to keep our girl from flying? Oh and just FYI, Sergei, Skyelar, and our dear Advocate are heading towards the Detention Center now with the Commander. So, you know, no rush or anything." That last part was a little on the sarcastic side, though he didn't know if sarcasm traveled that well over radio frequencies. He knew everyone on his team was on the clock and time was ticking by ever so fast. The quicker they pulled this off and freed both the two women and the ship, the faster they could leave before Murch or any of his purplebelly cronies knew something was up. |

Starboard Hangar 2 After having loitered around in Engineering looking busy for a bit, Darren hightailed it over to where the Gypsy was being kept, but not before having someone stop him in his tracks and ask him to fix a minor coolant leak on the lower level. He would've likely had them defer to someone else, but they didn't seem like the type to take 'no' for an answer. So Darren obliged and went about repairing said minor leak. By the time he reached the second starboard hangar, Reno's voice made itself present through his earpiece. "How are we doing with the Traveler, greasemonkey? How much damage are you seeing and did you figure out what they're using to keep our girl from flying? Oh and just FYI, Sergei, Skyelar, and our dear Advocate are heading towards the Detention Center now with the Commander. So, you know, no rush or anything." "I just got here. Give me a break." replied Darren into the comm, while making it look like he was talking to someone on his tablet. As he entered the hangar bay and did his best to blend in with the background, Darren continued, "Got tapped to fix a minor coolant leak, but I'll see to the ship now, sir." He saw the Gypsy Traveler ahead about twenty or so feet away. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Darren made his way over to her while making sure no one saw him. His hands were beginning to get clammy and there was a slight fluttering of butterflies in his stomach. He really did hope this plan went off without a hitch, cause he was getting nervous as Hell about it. |

IAV Albright - Flight Deck D3 Asked to present his ident card, Skyelar reached into his breast pocket to provide it, and his fingertips just coasted across an empty fabric pocket, to which he could only grin as he welled up with a sudden and deep nausea, as fear that it he would destroy the plan welled up inside him. The conversation went on without him a few beats. The commander threatened to detain Sergei, more information was provided about the women in the brig, as he nonchalantly scanned his other pockets with casual fingertips. "Him too, until we can ascertain and verify your identity," he said as well. He wasn't in the mood to deal with the Advocate and them. Finally he felt the card, the stiff plastic striking his fingertips in an unexpected pocket, and he drew it out between two fingers and extended it with a subtle, elegant flourish of his wrist. "Pardon me, I'm not accustomed to curt demands to verify my Identity, I normally keep company that takes my word." He paused, "Now, am I formally being bound by law, or may I remain with the Advocate?" |

IAV Albright - Flight Deck D3 Sergei watched as the super smooth barrister approached them. Murch wasn't watching him, but he was out of the corner of his eye. That eye raised a bit when the man was approached by a soldier and the soldier was dispatched with elegant ease. Murch didn't even notice. Sergei just might like the guy. After all, he wanted to do the same thing. "I am here for the two women, Ariel Duquesne and Amber Kynes," "I believe they have been detained here for quite some time without representation. You will take me to them." He was authoritative as well. Plus he didn't bat an eyelash at invading the commanding officer's personal space. While he did so, the guy's ident card was just as smoothly passed over. "Now." Now Murch looked like he was about to blow his top, but the most interesting thing happened... One look at the barrister's ident card made the officer's blood run cold. What the Hell is that about? "Reno? Are you seeing this? Or at least hearing this?" he whispered into his very well hidden comm. "This guy of Thalia's just made Murch look like he was caught AWOL and intoxicated by his superior officer. Either that or he's seen a ghost." "Yes, sir... Right away sir," Something was going on and he was now getting the weird spidey sense feeling about it. Something seemed out of place. The smooth guy had basically emasculated Murch, but Murch managed to bark out an order to try to maintain some control of the situation. "Detain the big man in the brig. I recognize him from our last visit to the Gypsy Traveler. He will need to be questioned." "Hey!" Sergei protested as two soldiers approached him, cuffs in hand. "Anyone tries to cuff me and I'll rip your head off." Murch turned to Skyelar as well. "Him too, until we can ascertain and verify your identity," Skyelar had already given them his new ident card! What the gorram Hell? He knew the young man might be starting to get really nervous and Sergei didn't want his to break cover. "Just relax, Sir," he said as he addressed his "boss." this will all be sorted out shortly, I am sure. He sure as Hell hoped to as well. "This way, Mr. Advocate, Sir." Mr. Advocate? Was that the guys real name? And the Sir reference? Things were getting stranger and stranger. Luckily, the soldiers backed off on the whole handcuff thing and Sergei simply followed the rest of them to the Detention Center. One thing that was good was that they were about to be much closer to Amber and Ari. So help the hundans if they hurt either one of those girls. Detention Center Sergei and Skyelar were pushed into a cell as the rest of them went further into the center, hopefully to where the girls were. As he strained to see where they were going, he made notice of how cold it was in there. Crossing his arms across his chest, he finally saw where they stopped and then noticed the state of the girls in the cell. His eyes widened. His fists pounded the lucite walls of the cell. "AMBER!" he screamed. Then he had a sudden thought. It should never feel this cold in this area. Neither girl had the clothing to fight against this, especially Ari. he remembered how it was when he had gotten to the POW camp during the war. They had stuck him in a room and ran the temp down until he was freezing and then up to where he was frying. And back and forth for hours. "ARI! AMBER!" The girls were there for a couple of days now and while they got ready, the girls were being tortured. In this cell, he couldn't do anything about it. "Reno..." he hissed into the comm. "The girls don't look good. They've been torturing them. Heat, then cold, then heat... Going back and forth. So help me if they die..." Sergei paused then asked what he really wanted to know. "Can I kill them?" He looked back down the way. "AMBER!" |

Detention Center Amber could feel herself drifting closer and closer to oblivion. She fought with everything she had in her, but it was a losing battle. Her body wasn't properly registering the temperature changes anymore. It was too drained and exhausted by what it had been put through already. Her mind was consumed with guilt. If she had reacted just a little faster, if she hadn't hesitated at Ari's words... if this, if that. It didn't do any good to play that game, and she only made herself feel guiltier. With each passing moment, her body weakened and her hatred of the Alliance strengthened. Not that that would do any good, either. Then Ari spoke and Amber had to struggle to hear the words. Her focus was pretty well hosed, and Ari wasn't at her usual strength either. By the time everything registered, it was too late to say anything even if she'd had the strength. Not knowing what else to do, Amber simply lay there and struggled to stay awake. She breathed shallowly, though not by choice, and tried to conserve her energy. What was left of it anyway. In truth, she didn't even have enough left to curl up into the fetal position in an effort to stay warm. Occasionally her body gave off involuntary twitches in an attempt to shiver, but that was about it. How long she lay there she didn't know. It could have been seconds, minutes, hours, or even days for all she knew. Time ceased to have any meaning for her. When she heard voices at the outside of the cell, she brushed it off as delusion. The extreme exhaustion was catching up to her and making her hallucinate. But then she heard a familiar voice. One of many she hadn't expected to hear again. Again she thought it was her imagination. Until she heard a bang. The noise startled her enough to give her a microburst of energy. She moved her head a little. Just enough to see who it was. When she recognized Sergei, her eyes flickered with recognition and a tiny short-lived flare of hope. But only for half a second. The last of her energy gave out and she too succumbed to unconsciousness, her body going limper than it already was and her eyes closing. |

Detention Center The Advocate rolled his eyes as he arrived at the door of Amber and Ari's cell. Both of the women were in bad shape. He turned to Commander Murch. "Are you serious?" he said incredulously. 'You tortured them? Just what did you expect from that?" He motioned for the guard to open the door. He stepped in and checked Ari's, then Amber's pulse. "Get these women to the med bay, ma shang," he demanded. "AMBER!" "ARI! AMBER!" "AMBER!" The big man obviously had feelings about both of them, but since he called out one of the women's names twice, he figured out that he had other interests. If he didn't watch out, he was going to have a problem on his hands with this man. He had read Sergei's file and it was quite impressive. He idly wondered if his crewmates knew what he had done during the war. He turned to the Commander. "Did you know what they were doing down here? Is there someone else I need to talk to?" he sneered. "Or do we have to do this the hard way and start from the top down. Whichever way it is, I will get my answer, dong ma?" |

Detention Center Commander Murch's stomach leapt into his throat when he walked into the Detention Center. He knew that his men were going to lean on the women a little hard, but this hard? "Are you serious?" "You tortured them? Just what did you expect from that?" "I..." he stammered a bit. He watched as the Advocate stepped into the cell and checked on the women. "Get these women to the med bay, ma shang," "Of course..." Then he heard the big man's pleas. "AMBER!" "ARI! AMBER!" "AMBER!" "Someone shut him up," he snapped. He was about to give further orders, but the Advocate had turned directly to him. "Did you know what they were doing down here? Is there someone else I need to talk to?" "Or do we have to do this the hard way and start from the top down. Whichever way it is, I will get my answer, dong ma?" Commander Murch set his jaw. "No need to do anything drastic, Mr. Advocate. My men were just supposed to get some straight answers from these... women. Obviously, they got a little... enthusiastic." He turned a bit looking for someone while at the same time motioning for medical help to be sent down. He was going to have a talk with Major Harrigan for sure. "People from medical will be down shortly," he told him. Then he looked up at the Advocate. "Sir... If you don't mind answering... Why is a man in your position here representing two low-life carnies? One has already confessed her part in the murder of my men, the other is playing dumb. Why waste your time? Surely you have better things to do?" |

Detention Center Skyelar shivering in the cell, Skye felt the situation running away from him. He didn't know what to do once it hadn't proven to be a cake-walk. He wasn't a criminal, and while he was clever, he wasn't cunning. The girls had been tortured, he was cold, he could be tortured. He was confined to his cell, and while he knew logically there was no real way for these people to figure out who he was and send him home, he felt a deep terror that they would call his mother. He sat with his back to the door and Lucite window, next to Sergei who he feared was losing control of his temper, and started to well up. This was bad. Really bad. And this was the first time that he really faced the reality that he couldn't cut it out here alone, and his family couldn't and wouldn't come to rescue him. "Do we just wait?" he whispered to Sergei after his radio conversation with the captain, while the advocate and the villain were talking. He could pull himself together and do something but he was scraping for ideas and finding only splinters. |
