Hallway Near Med Bay "Gil" looked like a decent enough guy and Sergei was more than happy for someone to help him get to the Med Bay. He was surprised to see the strong reaction that the man gave when Sergei had mentioned the Ari and Amber were more than just crew; they were family. "Gil" got a fire in his eyes like few he had ever seen. The man was passionate in his affairs and obviously felt the same about a crew that he did. Now if the guy would only trust him enough to give him a real name, he'd be much more settled. A guy who could tell the truth was a fine man indeed. "Dugan. Ian Dugan. Former Captain of the Mayfly Glory and former crew of the Lucky Seven. Now just lookin for a home in the Black. A Janitor was all I could get at the time." Sergei smiled. Another lost soul. Someone looking for family himself. Sergei knew that Ian wouldn't be finding family anywhere on this ship. "You help me get the girls out and I'll make sure you have a home," Sergei vowed. Really it was Reno's decision, but Sergei had a decent amount of pull with the man. Plus he could look all intimidating when he wanted to. "You wouldn't have ever been in a circus have you?" When he got confirmation that Ian had heard the metal on metal clank as well, the guy stepped up and took a look around the corner. Ian would definitely blend in better. Sergei obviously stuck out like a sore thumb. When he saw Ian's signal that meant 2 men ahead, he got ready for a fight, if needed. His hand stretched out near his waistband where the gun was, but he wasn't ready to pull it out. He wanted more information before a gun got involved. Sergei would much rather strangling someone with his bare hands than having things move to where there were bullets flying. But sometimes, you didn't get the choice. Sergei slid up behind Ian as far as he could without alerting anyone to the giant's position and was surprised when Ian took off his coat and gun belt. Ian didn't leave his gun behind though. He shoved it in his belt and grabbed a nearby bucket and mop and moseyed right up to the med bay doors. Sergei liked this guy. Smart. Resourceful. Wasn't afraid of danger. Ian Dugan was shaking out to be a good guy as well as a good ally. "Excuse me. Know what happened to the lights? I cant do my job." Walking right up to a pair of guards, most likely armed was gutsy and he knew that the guards would probably not pay Ian much mind. That worked in their advantage. So with Ian slightly inside the door, Sergei moved along the wall and kept his back to the wall, trying to keep some cover. Now, it would be interesting to see what those guards said. |

The Med Bay The two guards were searching slowly, looking into every tight corner and cabinet. They had heard that the women in custody were from a circus. For all they knew the girls could be contortionists or acrobats or magicians of some sort. The contortionist angle was the one that worried them the most. Didn't some of those folks fold themselves down into the tiniest of boxes? So of course, they searched about anything that could even be suspected as a hiding place, no matter how small it seemed. "Excuse me. Know what happened to the lights? I cant do my job." The two guards whipped around to face Ian, guns pulled and ready, but only half way up. It was obvious that they didn't expect anyone to be behind them or else one of them could have easily plugged Ian with some extra special holes. The one guard squinted in the low light until he realized who was talking to him. "Hey I know you... You're the janitor, aren't you?" The other guard nodded and went further. "You should watch out. The women who killed Snake, Willie and Cord seem to be making a break for it. It's dangerous to be about around here," he added. "Hey... You wouldn't have happened to see the Major anywhere around here would you? He isn't responding to any communications." The first guard had gone back to searching the room. "You be careful though. The women are obviously dangerous. I think that until I actually hear from the major, I will shoot first and deal with the aftermath later. Think of it, we'd just be saving the taxpayers some coin." The second guard got near the vent. "I think they might have gone this way. You think that is big enough for folks to get through?" The first one raised his gun with one hand and learned in to listen. "I hear voices. They're in there. Let's get this cover off and then use some lead to see if those gorram voices decide to shut up, shall we?" "For our fallen brothers." "For our fallen brothers," he agreed. Then the one guard grabbed hold of the vent door and pulled only to have a scalpel fly out at him and slice his hand. "It's a trap!" he yelled as both of them rounded on the vent's opening, seconds from firing a volley of lead into the shaft. It was at that same time, that Sergei stepped into the doorway of the Med Bay, gun drawn and hatred in his eyes. |

THe Med Bay In the moment that the guards turned toward the vent and raised their weapons, Ryder appered in Ian's hand, he dropped low as he felt, more than saw, Sergei move up behind him. Four quick shots could be heard as Ian pulled back the hammer and fired. He was not sure if Sergei fired or not, the sound of Ryder's Song was load in his ears. He saw Death as she danced her way in through the bulkhead and around where the guards had been standing, obsured by the smoke of the weapons discharge. |

Med Bay and Vent Outside Med Bay Sergei and Ian had both squeezed off rounds at the guards bent on doing harm to the girls. They both were cut down. Unfortunately, one of the guards squeezed the trigger of his gun reflexsively once hit by a bullet. The round was probably the best placed one in his entire short lived life as it managed to travel into the vent, ricocheting until connecting with Amber who just happened to be the last in the vent. The blood blossomed from the wound immediately. OOC: Firecat... The nature of the wound is up to you. Have fun! BWAH HA HA!!! |

Vent Outside Med Bay Amber hadn't gotten more than a couple of inches along before she heard the sound of metal clanging, then a cry of pain, and someone shouting about a trap. Right behind her, in the direction of the vent opening. "Get down" she whispered to Darren and Ari, then following her own advice and dropping immediately to her belly with her arms over her head and hands clamped over her ears just as the gunshots were heard. They had a fifty-fifty shot of getting missed entirely or minorly wounded, or of being fatally wounded. The chances in their favor were probably about half that if they were moving. Just as she was realizing the shots didn't seem to be entering the vent, it felt like a red-hot poker had been jabbed right into her left ass cheek. The shock and pain of it made her howl out in pain, and roll half over to shield the injured part of her from further harm, resulting in her banging her head on the side of the vent. Not hard enough to cause further injury and not hard enough for her to feel it through the pain in her ass, but hard enough that she made a bit of noise with it. "Goat rutting frog humping feh feh pi goh*!" she yelled, pressing her hand hard over the wound. She could already feel blood oozing out. Well this was certainly going to put a damper on her own escape. *Baboon's ass crack |

Med Bay Sergei stood there wide eyed as he and Ian both fired shots at the two guards. He was genuinely surprised. Surprised that he actually pulled the trigger several times and surprised that Ian did the same. Ian didn't have any allegiance to the Gypsy Traveler. Did that mean he had an ax to grind with the Alliance? Or that he had a high opinion of women? Or did he just understand the evil in the folks that were about to pump bullets at two defenseless women? Suddenly, he thought of something even more scary. What if the bullets passed through to the vent? What if the girls were hurt? What if a bullet he had actually fired had hurt one of them? Amber! He rushed past Ian, tossing the gun carefully to him as he went by. Somehow he just didn't want to have it right then and it would be impolite to just drop another man's gun or leave it on a flat surface somehow. In a flash, he was outside the vent when he heard Amber talk. "Goat rutting frog humping feh feh pi goh*!" "What?" he questioned. "What's going on? Is everyone OK? Anyone hurt?" He stuck his head and shoulders in, not much being able to fit through the smaller opening. It was big enough for the girls to get through but he couldn't. Thank goodness that the vent itself was larger. If only he could slide in himself. "Amber what is going on?" he asked since she was the one swearing. "Talk to me please!" Then it dawned on him. "Are you wounded? Or someone else?" his eyes got more accustomed to the low lighting and he saw Darren comforting Ari, who was in pieces almost and then Amber who seemed to be applying pressure on her backside. That only meant one thing. Although he couldn't see the blood, he knew Amber had been injured. His stomach flipped and he wanted to throw up. "Amber? Slide back towards me. This is the Med Bay. We have bandages and stuff here to help you." He turned back to Ian. "You wouldn't happen to have any medic experience would you?" Then he turned back to the folks inside the vent, his heart pounding as he reached out to Amber until he reached her ankle and began to tug her gently back to the opening. He knew that having everyone in the same space was dangerous. "Darren! Get Ari back to the Gypsy! We need to split up! It's safer that way. We'll be along shortly after we get Amber bandaged up. Can you do that?" |

Infirmary Ventilation Shaft Repeating her "I'm strong" mantra didn't seem to be helping her at all and that was unnerving her to no end. She had always been able to get herself under control and now, she was coming unglued like never before. If it wasn't for Amber and Darren, she'd be in a big puddle of goop on the floor readying herself for time at the psychiatric ward at the nearest penal colony. But then Darren's hand slapped over her mouth and she heard a faint "ssshhhhh" sound coming from him. She almost screamed, but didn't as she heard why he had done so. They had company in the Med Bay. As she listened, tears kept streaming down her face, probably onto Darren's hand too. She had the odd thought pop into her head hoping that her nose wasn't running too. Eewww... She grabbed Darren's wrist and pulled it from her mouth and listened intently. The guards wanted them dead. Then there was another voice she heard that was unfamiliar. This was not going to end well. "It's a trap!" A trap? She didn't understand exactly what the guy meant until Amber spoke. "Get down" They dove down too, almost ending up in a spooning type positions on their sides. For some reason she felt oddly comforted by it. Then the bullets came. Ari almost screamed again, but she just gripped the arm that Darren had thrown over her to keep her close. Only a slight squeak slipped out. Then the gunfire ended and she didn't hear anything. What had happened? "Goat rutting frog humping feh feh pi goh!" Ari angled her head up to see Amber pressing her hand down flat onto her rear. Panic started to well up again. She needed Amber. She couldn't be wounded. She couldn't be... Then a soothing voice spoke out to them. "What?" "What's going on? Is everyone OK? Anyone hurt?" Sergei... Big sweet Sergei. Ari laid her head down on Darren's shoulder in relief. Sergei would make everything better. Sergei would get them back to the ship. "Amber what is going on?" "Talk to me please!" "Are you wounded? Or someone else?" "Amber? Slide back towards me. This is the Med Bay. We have bandages and stuff here to help you." Amber was wounded. Ari reached out and squeezed Amber's hand, something very uncharacteristic for the aerialist to do. She didn't form attachments like friendships. She had obligations to her crewmates, but she had never felt anything remotely like friendship in many, many years. It scared her. It meant that her defenses were crumbling. "You wouldn't happen to have any medic experience would you?" Who was Sergei talking to? He would know that if it was anyone on their crew. She let go of Amber's hand and went back to gripping Darren's arm, trying to make herself feel better. "Darren! Get Ari back to the Gypsy! We need to split up! It's safer that way. We'll be along shortly after we get Amber bandaged up. Can you do that?" Ari shook her head. "No... Gotta stick together... Can't leave crew behind. Gotta stick together." God she was feeling unhinged again. She knew one thing though. She desperately needed to get back to the ship. She needed to go home. |

Med Bay Ian heard the shout just as Sergei passed He extended his arm up and caught Ryder just after Sergei tossed the weapon, as if it were just leaping of it own accord back to its master's hand. Ian ducked back intom the hall and reterived his coat and gun belt then put both weapons back at his hips and moved to close the door behind him. He crossed the room by the dead guards and began searching them, taking the weapons and any items that they might need. He attention was split on who Gergei was talking to and his grissley task. "You wouldn't happen to have any medic experience would you?" "As a matter of fact, I do. I've had need for it a time or two and must say that a weave and Med spray beat gunpowder any day." There was a twinkle in his eyes as he spoke. He stood and looked quickly for what he needed, finding it he held it up for Sergei to see. The man loves his crew. Just like I did when I had one., he thought. "Got it. I'm ready as soon as who ever got shot can get out of the vent." |

| Reno Carson | Sep 5 2013, 11:59 PM Post #85 |
|
Heading Towards Lars' Rescue Reno used the power outage to his advantage as he raced through red tinged corridors, ducking, dipping, diving, and dodging past the purplebelly scum who were either puzzled about the sudden loss of power, or on alert for any suspicious persons behind it whomever they might be. A lucky few who spotted Reno and tried to stop him were rewarded with either snapped necks, concussion worthy kicks to the head, or a slit throat. He skidded to a halt once he reached the detention center, almost falling on his butt in the process. He silently cursed whomever was the overzealous wax happy janitor as he spotted the backsides of both Skyelar and the Advocate. Using his military training, Reno began to sneak his way up behind the man whom Thalia had tasked with helping him and his crew. "You're the Avocado I presume?" whispered Reno, standing a few feet behind the two men. "I'm here for Lars and to know what the case is for my two female crew members that were being held here." |

Infirmary Ventilation Shaft Ari felt panicked. She wanted to reach out and grab Amber to stop her from going back into the med bay. But just a little bit of sense came into her brain. Amber was hurt. She needed care. It's just that she hadn't gotten close to anyone in a VERY long time. Amber could technically be called Ari's only friend. Then the thought of having a friend nearly shook Ari to the bone. Immediately, she felt as if she was going to throw up. Ari didn't do friends. After all, everyone that Ari was friends with ended up dead or they just left her. She didn't know if she could handle something like that right then. "We're not leavin' Amber behind. She'll be with Sergei and she'll be safe." "We need to go, Ari. The longer we stay, the less safe we'll be. You'll see Amber back on the Gypsy. You have my word on that." Keeping her eyes on Amber as she slid back towards the vent's opening, she nodded slowly, knowing Darren was right. Or at least she believed that he was right. A tear slid down her face. "Zhu yi," Ari croaked out at Amber. "Please... Zhu yi." Then she turned to Darren. "You better be right or I will hurt you," she said firmly. She meant it too. At least she did at that particular time. She took a breath and slipped her hand into Darren's, which was another uncharacteristic move on her part. "Are you ready? Show me the way. I want to go home." |

| The Advocate | Sep 6 2013, 01:59 AM Post #87 |
|
Detention Center The Advocate stood in the reddish haze of emergency lighting as he waited for Reno to show up. He could only wonder where the man had been hiding and what kind of resistance he got on the way here. Would you kill for your crew, Captain Carson? he thought as he pondered. Who exactly do you have on the inside here? This crew was most perplexing. They seemed to be simple circus folk, but they had skills that baffled comprehension. Normally he would have never thought of them working with such precision, but now that he had had time to think on it, he knew they were more than just a ragtag group of performers. They thought in an almost military fashion. But then again, Thalia had asked him to come help them and Thalia was not one who ran with scalliwags and dimwits. So what do these fine folks do when they aren't performing? he thought some more. He heard Reno approach behind him, but did not let on. No sense showing his hand. If he needed to perform a show of force against anyone, he would rather it be a surprise. So he decided to play the simple lawyer type. Plus Reno was hardly stealthy. By the sound of it, he nearly slipped on the floor as he approached "You're the Avocado I presume?" Avocado... That made him smile. He had read Reno's military file and noted the singularity of the man's humor and outlook. He guessed that everything they said about him was true. "I'm here for Lars and to know what the case is for my two female crew members that were being held here." "Now I know that Lars is not actually the young man's name. He is probably not anything like his... role he is playing here today. Perhaps you might tell me what his story is. It intrigues me." He paused for a beat then went on to answer his question. "As for your two crewmembers, I think it is a very good chance that they can found innocent. At least by my standards. Anything that was perpetrated was most likely in self defense. I would just like to search the men's quarters who allegedly perpetrated the heinous acts on the aerialist." He then looked Reno up and down, sizing the guy up. He noticed the blood spatter on Reno's shirt and sleeve. "How many young soldiers did you happen to cut down on the way here, Captain Carson? Seems you are a bit of a mess," he mentioned with a tone that could almost be taken for a 'maybe I should arrest you for the crimes you just perpetrated' fashion. He waved his hand around in the dark. "This little distraction? I take it you have at least one person on the inside here. Darren Roberts perhaps? I commend you on the ability to slip him in. Anyone else wandering around that I should know about?" |

| Major Samuel Harrigan | Sep 17 2013, 12:18 PM Post #88 |
|
Undisclosed Hallway On Way To Med Bay Major Harrigan became conscious slowly, but surely. His body ached a little, especially around the neck area. He was slightly confused at first, but realized that Romanov had put a choke hold on him. In his rage, he had underestimated the big man. And to top that off, Romanov had answered him with an equal amount of rage combined with some righteousness and desperation. Harrigan might have had the right to bludgeon the man, but he did not have the desperation that Romanov had working for him. Then he remembered the man who had struck at both of them. He had on a Alliance uniform and seemed to be a janitor, but somehow he wasn't getting that impression right now either. Something was off about the guy. Janitor's were usually combat trained, but not exactly soldiers. They didn't see the front lines or boarded any ships to search them for contraband. They simply stayed on board and did their job. But this guy? This guy was not a 'simply do his job' type. This guy knew how to fight and did it well. Plus, he looked kinda familiar. Perhaps he served with this man in the war? In the war, Harrigan was merely a captain, and for a moment, he got a vision of the guy in a uniform of a commanding officer. He did know this guy, but he couldn't quite place him. Yet. What the Hell? As he rose to his feet, his head was getting clearer and clearer. He would think about the janitor soon enough, but at the moment, it was Romanov and the women he was more interested in. And he knew exactly where he had headed and he hoped the janitor guy was with him. Then he would end this once and for all. First he had to find a gun. Coming to blows with Romanov was probably not a wise choice right now and he wanted all the leverage he could get. |

Detention Center Reno thought he had snuck up on the lawyer stealthily enough, but he changed his mind after he set eyes on the man as he turned to face him. He got the feeling that the Advocate was not quite who he portrayed himself to be. That meant he had to be mighty careful. "Now I know that Lars is not actually the young man's name. He is probably not anything like his... role he is playing here today. Perhaps you might tell me what his story is. It intrigues me." Reno narrowed his eyes at the man as he side stepped him and helped Skyelar to his feet. "You got no reason to get all 'inquiring minds want to know' when talking about my crew," Reno warned him. "It's none of your beeswax." Then the Advocate got to answering something that Reno actually wanted to know. "As for your two crewmembers, I think it is a very good chance that they can found innocent. At least by my standards. Anything that was perpetrated was most likely in self defense. I would just like to search the men's quarters who allegedly perpetrated the heinous acts on the aerialist." Reno nodded. "So would I. And I know exactly where that is," Reno informed him. Then there was the looksee that the Advocate gave him, like he was sizing him up for a uniform or a coffin. He hoped it was more towards the uniform direction than the other. And the guy was full of questions. "How many young soldiers did you happen to cut down on the way here, Captain Carson? Seems you are a bit of a mess." Reno snorted. "Enough." Like he really cared how many purplebellies had to die before he got his people and got gone. It was the Advocate's tone that set him on edge. "This little distraction? I take it you have at least one person on the inside here. Darren Roberts perhaps? I commend you on the ability to slip him in. Anyone else wandering around that I should know about?" Hmmm... This guy knew a lot about his crew. Too much. He wondered if there was more going on or if Thalia had just given him the run down of the players. "A few," Reno answered vaguely. One thing that was obvious though was that he needed to put the next crew member hidden on board up to bat. He touched his comm and spoke. "Doctor Doolittle? It's Captain Crunch. I need you," he said as he watched the Advocate closely. "Drop the package in the sleezeball's bunk and head to the med bay. The family's there and they have a new addition. Check on the bouncing baby boy and give me a full report of any birth defects, dong ma?" Reno grinned at the Advocate, mainly because he liked the flow of the things he said. A little spontaneous, but he hadn't figured to gain any possible new crew on this excursion. Doctor Doolittle was smart too. Just hoped he got what he was meaning. And the last piece of the puzzle was set into place. Now to send Skyelar on his way and get to doing was was needed. "Shall we get this guy on a boat headed dirtside and then get on to Lt. Harrigan's bunk?" Reno asked. He then looked pointedly at the guy. "Lars better not come to harm, else I might get a little peckish. Things tend to go BOOM when I get peckish." And he meant that. |

Vent Outside Med Bay As the initial burst of pain subsided to more manageable levels, voices filtered through into her conscious mind. Ari's, being the closest, was recognized first. Then Darren's, being the next closest. Two other voices too, farther away. One she recognized and one she did not. Had it not been for having run into Darren mere moments before, Amber might not have believed it was really Sergei's voice she was hearing. She might still have thought she was hallucinating anyway, if not for Darren confirming it for her. But no. She couldn't be hallucinating of Darren was seeing and hearing him too. "I'm... well..." Amber called back, once she was able to talk again. She couldn't says she was okay, because with a bullet in her butt, she most certainly wasn't. But it was better than other places it could have gone. "Except for having a bullet in my pigu, I'm the picture of health." She couldn't be at death's door if she could still crack off jokes right? Who was she kidding, she'd probably still crack jokes right up until she breathed her last. She looked at Ari, regret in her eyes. "I have to, Ari" she said gently, giving the other woman's hand a light squeeze. "I've gotta get this bullet outta me, or at least get a bandage stuck over the wound until we get home. Otherwise, I'm just going to end up leaving a trail of blood for anyone with eyes." She winced as she shifted a little. "Even the purplebellies would be able to follow us then, and I can't allow that." Besides, Amber was feeling a bit like it was her fault. They wouldn't any of them be in this mess in the first place if she had been just a few seconds faster, and gotten out of sight before the feds showed up to pinch her and Ari. "Anyway, you two will move a lot faster without me slowing you down. 'Sides. Darren's right. You aren't leaving me behind. I'm just gonna be taking a different route than you two." Talking was helping to distract her from the pain, at least temporarily. "And it's not like I'll be alone, either. I'll be with Sergei. If he can't get me home safe and sound, nobody can." Amber gave Ari's hand another squeeze, stronger this time and more confident, then released it and started sliding backwards. She pushed herself carefully with her hands, going slowly so she didn't make too fast of an exit and make her injury worse or just more painful than it already was. "You too, Ari. And Darren, you better take care of Ari, or I'll drop you off in the middle of Reaver space and let them use you for a chew toy." A mostly empty threat. Because Reavers weren't real. They were just stories. Everyone knew that. But she would kick Darren's ass if he let anything happen to Ari. |
